Pregnacare Conception - period AWOL

Hi all.

I’ve very recently started taking Pregnacare Conception as we want to have another baby in the next year or so (taking less than ten tablets/days) and my period is now a few days late. I also had no signs of ovulation. This never happens and I’ve even had to do a test, although we’ve only had sex with protection once. (We don’t really get the opportunity to have sex with a little one!)

I know there are threads on this exact problem and supplement but I was wondering if anyone has any idea what causes this. I understand that there are no vitamins or ingredients that causes a delay in ovulation or menstruation and it could be a coincidence. But nothing else has changed in my life other than starting this supplement and it seems strange that so many have reported the same.

It’d also be good to know how long it took for a natural period to return and how long you took these/stopped raking them before the period returned.

It’s very frustrating and a bit worrying.

Thank you in advance.

Myself and my sil used to take pregnacare tablets. I found it messed up my cycle and I would either be really early or really late with my periods. My sil went from normal 28 day cycle to over 40 day cycle. After a few months of this, the gp encouraged her to stop taking the tablets and only take folic acid. It sadly took a few of months for her periods to return to a more normal cycle for her.

Thanks so much for your reply! I’m going to switch to just folic acid which is a shame as the Pregnacare has so many vitamins in it of course. Surely they’ll release some new info/research on what causes this in time, as so many seem to be affected in this way. Very strange… I wondered if it’s zinc but that claims to regulate a cycle I think.

I take proceive. Find it very good

I have been taking them since just before new year. I had AF on 13th Dec and then I had a 2 day af on 1st Jan. I am now CD62 and only ovulated on CD54 do am now 8DPO (I hope).

I do have irregular cycles so it may not have had anything to do with the delay but it seems very coincidental. As long as you are tracking, I am sure things will sort themselves out x x

Hi,
Late to this post but I just wondered how long it took for your cycles to get back to normal? I was taking pregnancare and it messed up my cycles so I stopped taking it. I’m now on my first cycle without it and haven’t had a LH peak yet currently CD21 and usually would have my peak before this so I’m thinking it could still be a side effect, really hoping it won’t take ages for my cycles to get back to normal.
Thanks

Hi @LB414, I don't think it was the pregnacare that gave me the long cycle as it ended up being 101 days 😯 I am now on cd48 on my 2nd cycle of this year with AF no where in sight!!! I tested for pregnancy last week which was negative. I am 42 so I think I am going into peri-menopause along with possibly having pcos 😔

I hope your cycles return back to normal soon x x

Hi. It came back about a week or so after I last posted. I tried to kickstart it by eating lots of good fats and carbs to nourish my body. I also cut out my hard workouts. Hope it happens soon for you both. xx
