I tested the day before my period was due, BFN.

Had some spotting when period was due, assumed that was it and we'll try again next cycle... 3 days later no period and spotting ended.

Just taken a test on the off chance and I think I see a line?

There’s a faint line. Could you have ovulated late and the spotting was implantation bleeding? Are you tracking ovulation? I’d do a digital with FMU tomorrow to get a clear answer.

Flo guessed I was ovulating around the 8th, however my cycle does tend to vary from month to month so quite possibly, I'll run out and grab one in the morning

Ah, the tracking apps are often not accurate if your cycle varies. Mine varies quite a lot and ovulation is different every month for me. For what it’s worth I had a very similar faint line at around 17DPO the result of which is currently crawling around the living room! For sure confirm with a digital.

I see a line that has colour, looks positive to me

Hey same things happened with me with DS1. I bled on the day my period was due and was at a bbq at the time. I was so upset that I was out for that cycle that I got really drunk. The bleeding was on and off for about a week, not heavy enough to be a period but more than what I expected for spotting. A week later I took a test and the two lines were as clear as day. I can definitely see a line! Although it may be worth doing another one just to make doubly sure, as the window looks like it might be a little bit flooded with dye.

I didn't have time to get a digital or first response before work, so I just used the second cheapy in the box, but I see a clearer line this morning

Is this evaporation or faint positive? I think i could see the line within the 10 mins but not sure, and then later after the thin line appeared over the thick one
