We have been trying to conceive for 6 months now with no luck. This month I decided to have a go with ovulation tests but I wish I hadn’t. My cycles are reasonably regular, about 26-29 days. I started testing on day 10 of this cycle, all faint lines until day 15 when the lines got slightly darker so I tested AM and PM (I have only just discovered the app so I don’t have many tests to add to it), but now we are on day 17 and they are getting lighter again. Does this mean I haven’t/wont ovulate? Do I keep going for the rest of this month or is it too late now? Is it always a steady increase or could I have missed it? I’m not really sure what I’m asking, maybe just for some advice/reassurance.

I should add we already have a 2 year old, conceived naturally within 2 months of coming off the pill.

Keep on testing is my advice. Some people have rapid surges of LH. Also, try getting a BBT thermometer (I think Premom sell one) and try tracking that too as an LH surge on its own doesn't necessarily mean you've ovulated. BBT can also help you predict your cycle more accurately. I use Natural Cycles and have found it to be really good.

Hi OP, keep testing. It’s possible you have a short luteal phase which you wouldn’t know if you’ve not tracked ovulation before.
Presumably you know about the best ways of getting an accurate result- making sure hold off urinating for a few hours before testing so you have higher concentration and testing in the afternoon.
You won’t necessarily see a gradual rise, I get a sudden peak. I’ve attached a pic of mine so you can see what I mean.
