Ovulation after miscarriage

Just looking for other people's experiences that have been in the same position. I found out that I had a MMC at my 12 week scan, baby was measuring 8 weeks. I had zero signs anything was wrong so it was a shock. I had surgery on 8th February and the last couple of days I've taken a pregnancy test but the line is very very faint. I took an ovulation test yesterday and again today which is showing positive - assuming this is due to there being some HCG still in my system? I don't know how sensitive the tests are.
Yesterday it was showing as peak in comparison to today so looks like it's slowly coming down.
I have no ovulation symptoms so assuming this is due to the small amount of HCG but just wanted to check if anyone had the same experience?
If so when did you actually ovulate? I'm thinking I'll just keep testing for ovulation daily and hopefully the LH goes down and then comes back up soon as I don't want to miss it. It's two weeks tomorrow since my surgery so hoping I ovulate in the next week or so.

Hi sorry for your loss. I mc on 2nd Feb ones 8’weeks but measuring 5+5 was complete no surgery needed, by the Wednesday 7th I was showing negative on pregnancy test. I ovulated between 12th and 14th and now in the tww currently 7dpo so
waiting.

@Rosyposy26 thank you! So it didn't take long after your negative test. Hoping mine will be the same. I hope you get your BFP. 🤞🤞

I’ve never tracked ovulation before but got EWCM and this was my ovulation.

Thank you. We didn’t want to wait as time not on our side I’m 42. So hoping that if it works this time it’s sticks and is ok.

Thanks - your lines are really dark! Hopefully your tww goes in quickly too, it's torture waiting to test. Ovulation tests are what has helped me conceive my first pregnancy and also the MC pregnancy in the first cycle so I hope it's the same for you.

I hope so too. I did a cheeky test today a vvfl so bots debits even viable will test at weekend I think. Hope it works for you again.

I'm so sorry to hear about your MMC. After my MC a few months ago I started doing OPKs before I had a negative pregnancy test and they weren't showing positive but were fairly strong lines and definitely picking up the HCG - I was still getting a faint positive pregnancy test 2 weeks after surgery. The OPKs then faded to very faint lines, I got my negative pregnancy test 3 weeks after surgery and my LH peak arrived the very next day after that - my total cycle length was 5 weeks from surgery to period (we waited a cycle to start TTC again).

I hope everything returns to normal with your cycle soon.

@CluelessInLondon I take it it's unlikely I'd be ovulating right now with a very faint positive pregnancy test? The line was really strong but like I said I'm not sure if minimal HCG is enough to make it really strong? It's all so confusing! I really don't want to miss an opportunity.

My midwife told me to start trying as soon as I stopped bleeding. Which we did.

CluelessInLondon · 21/02/2024 17:06

@jellyfish2 I think you can ovulate with a very small amount of HCG in your system, although not everyone will. If you want to try again straight away and aren't still feeling any effects of the surgery there's no reason you can't just crack on - you can always keep doing the OPKs anyway to help see if they change once you get a completely negative pregnancy test.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I've had MMCs too, they are so horrible because it's such a shock too. I didn't ovulate after my most recent one until after I'd had another bleed (like a period but technically not a period if you've not ovulated!). After that it was back to normal cycles with ovulation on day 14 of that first full cycle x

jellyfish2 · 21/02/2024 19:10

@moosey89 I can't believe you've went through that more than once, I don't even know how I'll cope if it happens again. I felt so lost and empty. I'm starting to feel like myself again but the first few days were awful and like you say it's the shock. How long after did you get your period? Did you have surgery? I'm just trying to work out when all these things will happen but I know everyone is different.

@jellyfish2 I was terrified of it happening again, and whilst I was devastated I just kept telling myself the world didn't end and I'd be ok, it would just take time. Make sure you give yourself the time you need to process and grieve - there's no time limit to it.

So I had surgery both times and period came back 2.5/3 weeks after. I had a negative test around 10 days after both times x

jellyfish2 · 21/02/2024 19:45

@moosey89 thanks for this, I'll definitely think that way too for my next pregnancy (hopefully). It is tragic and in the thick of it, it's just awful. Finding out at that scan, the world you imagine with this baby just collapses so suddenly. I don't think anyone can understand that hasn't been in that position. I still have flashbacks to the scan room and can see the baby and how small it was on the screen in my head. Like you say though, the world hasn't ended and I have so much support around me and I'm lucky to have a little boy who keeps me going.

That was pretty quick for your period coming back. It would probably be easier if my period came (or a bleed anyway) and I start afresh as it's not clear what's happening at the moment with my body!
