LH surge before period?

3 days late with a positive OPK. I know they can detect pregnancy but that is very unlikely in my case (infertility). Does LH surge before period or are my hormones going haywire?

It's possible it can surge before your period I had a surge one cycle but i do see a lot of women post positive opks alone with pregnancy tests on here! Have you taken a test? I know you said infertility but is that a definite no chance or low chance?

I haven't taken a pregnancy test yet and I can't get out until tomorrow to get one. I have been TTC for 8 years and am very lucky to have an IVF baby but apart from that I've never been pregnant so it would have to be a miracle if I was!

it can surge before period but generally doesn't go that high. if you're late and have a blazing positive i'd say there's a good chance you're pregnant. It often happens that once an IVF baby is born another baby arrives quickly after, it's like the body suddenly realises how to do it right!

Thank you for the replies, I will update tomorrow. It is scoring 0.94 on premom at the moment and the lines look equally as dark. I've never tested LH at this point in my cycle so I'm not sure what is usual for me! I do know I've already had an LH surge this month as it was peak on 6 Feb.

Update: Negative HPT today however LH test is now darker than the control so will just have to put it down to wonky hormones this month!

@Chickencoup12 how frustrating! Maybe you're ovulating now or it's too early for a positive pregnancy tesult!?

@Daniki yes strange although I also had a positive OPK 2 weeks ago and haven't had a period since, currently on CD29. It's a mystery!

There's always a lh surge before your period, it's just smaller than the one at ovulation
