Hi all,

Do pregnancy tests also come out positive when you're ovulating? Do they pick up the LH surge or are they only able to pick up hcg?

I had a miscarriage on the 1st February at 10 weeks. After 2 weeks I was testing negative for pregnancy. But I tested today and I can see a faint line, I've also done an ovulation test and I can see a faint line. Am I ovulating? Surely I'm not pregnant. I feel like my hormones are all ovet the place.

Thanks

No but ovulation tests can pick up pregnancy, so unless your hcg is not completely out your system then you're pregnant :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage - I hope you're doing okay.

Do you know how many dpo you'd be this month? Or when AF is due?

Photos of the tests might be helpful too if you have them 🙂

We've only had sex twice since the miscarriage once on the 06/02 and my husband pulled out (sorry tmi) and the 13/02. I haven't been much in the mood and I didn't think I could ovulate so soon after a miscarriage.

I tested hcg out of my system after the miscarriage and I have been getting negative results up until today, today is the first pregnancy test in the past 5 days that's been positive.

I'm so confused.

I’m sorry for your loss 🌷. I noticed your message says your ovulation only has a faint line, they are only positive for ovulation if the test line is darker than the control line, in my experience a faint line is possible pretty much at any point in my cycle. I have no advice regarding the pregnancy test results. X

It's very faint but definitely there.

Pregnancy + ovulation test both positive.

@Utopiachaser It definitely looks positive!

If you were ovulating around when you had sex on the 6th you could definitely be pregnant and may see a positive now.

You could maybe phone the dr to ask for a blood test? Then they’d be able to check your hCG levels to confirm it’s not a left over positive after your miscarriage. Although if you said you’ve had negative readings for two weeks then it’s unlikely you’d still be positive now!

Yes I think my next step is going to the Dr to confirm.

Maybe it's a stupid but my husband pulled out, I feel weird about that. Like he wasted the good sperm. I don't know.

@Utopiachaser I've definitely heard stories of people becoming pregnant even after pulling out. It might be that some lil swimmers managed to escape up there 🙂

How are you feeling about it all?

The other pregnancy wasn't exactly planned. But I was very upset when I lost it. Now I am very keen to be pregnant.

I have been feeling bloated, sleepy and sore in my back, so I thought I must be ovulating. I tried an ovulation strip and it was a faint positive, I thought I'll just try the pregnancy test and to my surprise it's positive.

So I'm happy overall, just worried its happened so soon and hope the swimmers that escaped are good quality.

But I think until I get some bloods done I'm going to hold off on celebrating.

Hi OP, I would say that it was possible that if you ovulated around 2 weeks after your MC and DTD on 13th Feb, however that was only a week ago so wouldn't expect a positive pregnancy test at this point.
If you miscarried on 1st Feb and DTD on 6th Feb, I really doubt you'd have ovulated that early. By the sound of things, you haven't had a positive ovulation test because you said the line on that was only faint (it needs to be darker than the control line to be positive).
However my main point would be that those Clearblue tests are awful for lines that look positive, but they aren't. I would never trust those tests (from personal experience). Have you got any pink dye tests, or can you go and buy one and try that?

The more days go by, the more I think I'm not pregnant. It's so odd what's going on though, the pregnancy strips went back to nothing and the ovulation strips were super dark yesterday, but the pregnancy strips became positive again today.

I think I ovulated yesterday, but I literally have no idea. I asked for bloods and they said they don't do them and said I have to refer to the EPU and they will deal with me. But how is that even productive when I don't know if I'm pregnant??

Anyway, I still did register and will be seeing someone in 3 weeks.

I'm going to take it day by day and see how I go.

I think I ovulated on the 23rd, we had sex on that day. Today is 9 dpo and I've got these results.

Pregnancy + ovulation test both positive.
