Diary of a crazy woman: earliest symptoms leading to a BFP?

purplecolouroffunk · 18/02/2024 12:10

Hi!

What were some of the first signs before you got your BFP?

I’m 11dpo. AF due to arrive in 4 days. Negatives on easy @ home tests so far (I know, I know).

Some of my “symptoms” are:

  • Cramps basically every day since ovulation - twinges and pulling feeling
  • Slight nausea especially when hungry - bit more hungry than usual
  • Light pink bleeding from 6dpo - still going now but super light
  • Shooting pains in boobs
  • VERY changeable emotions - laughing and perky one minute, next minute crying because I can’t find the inbox on a new piece of software
  • Bursts of energy
  • Feeling and needing to pee more (is 11dpo too early for that?)
  • Headaches nearly every day
I know there are literally hundreds of women on here wondering the same thing, but at least it passes the time eh? 😂😭

*might add that cramps are pretty low level but noticeable.

the month i got BFP, I didn’t notice any difference to my usual PMS symptoms.

purplecolouroffunk · 18/02/2024 14:38

@Rosesanddaisies1 interesting! Seems that way with a lot of people. Tbf a lot of mine are PMS symptoms too, but just noticing some little changes this month.

@Rosesanddaisies1 I am 8DPO today and this month I’ve tracked my symptoms in a note on my phone so when, inevitably, AF arrives. I can look at it next month when I’m symptom spotting to calm myself.

I did a cheap test this morning which was a stark white negative but I didn’t expect anything different.

anyway… from about 5-6DPO I had the most horrendous headache and dizziness and for the past days I have had spotting which is brown in colour and not heavy, but the cramps have made it feel like AF is coming.

I expect I will come on in the next day or two. But happy to symptom spot with you.

Mrsttcno1 · 18/02/2024 15:04

My one and only sign really before a positive pregnancy test was that while on the train home from a work trip I suddenly had an intense wave of nausea and had to rush to the toilet to be sick! I figured sickness that sudden and intense was either food poisoning or pregnancy so took a pregnancy test when I got home “just incase”, I was 10 dpo and got positive on both easy @ home and clear blue digital x

KittyFantastica · 18/02/2024 15:07

None. Absolutely none. I'm 5 weeks today and still haven't really had any symptoms. I had one slightly and mildly sore boob around 4w3d. Today, I've felt a bit more tired and had to go to bed at 10pm last night. Otherwise, nothing it all.

I had a chemical last month and with that one I had excessive gassiness, sore boobs and strong cramping 3 days before my period was due. It continued for four more days, then disappeared and I lost the pregnancy around 3 days later.

I was genuinely shocked this time because I was certain I'd feel it just like last time. Bodies are funny things!

That's a good plan with keeping note of everything. I've been doing that too in really fine detail this month so I can look back next month and settle my head 😂

How are you doing today? Interesting about your dizziness and headache. Hope you're feeling a bit better now?

I'm the same as you with the spotting, although mine is pink rather than brown. But is very light. I've had cramps for over a week now that feel like AF is coming but nothing appearing. Although not due til Wed/Thu.

I feel a really sharp stab near my right ovary last night - took me back a little. I wondered if it could be implantation related, but maybe 11dpo is a little late.

Congratulations! Ooh yes I bet that was a big sign for you. I've not been sick myself but feel quite queasy when I'm hungry.

Congratulations!! Oh that's so interesting that there was such a difference between your two pregnancies. So happy for you that you're at 5 weeks now!

It's just soo hard to know and I know symptom spotting is silly, and even sharing symptoms is silly cause everyone is so different 😂 But here we are!

@purplecolouroffunk I don’t have the headache or dizziness today, I did feel a bit nauseous this morning before I had my breakfast and I woke at about 3am with really sore nipples (it was painful enough to wake me) but that seems to have settled and they are just now tender to touch.

I just went to the loo at work, I was adamant that AF had arrived but nothing. The spotting is still there on wiping but is much less obvious.

how are you feeling today? Will you test before AF is due or will you wait?

Atomickittyxx · 19/02/2024 10:51

Tingly nipples and falling to sleep one afternoon on the sofa which I never do! Oh and getting dizzy really easy!

purplecolouroffunk · 19/02/2024 10:57

@SophT27 glad to hear it!

I'm feeling nauseous this morning too. I don't usually have breakfast but this morning I feel soo hungry and the hunger is making me feel a bit sick. Had that for a couple of days now.

Interesting about your nipples! That must have been quite sore if it woke you up. Mine are usually always really sore by/around this point in the month and I can't usually walk around the house without them in a bra. But this month they're not really that sore and only tender when I squeeze them.

God I feel you with the AF checking. I keep feeling like that and then only have these v light pink wipes.

One thing I've not had that almost everyone mentions is being super tired, so I'm wondering if that's counted me out.

I'm going to do my best just to see if AF arrives now. Getting a BPN at 11dpo has just made me lose hope but I know it might be too early, so want to avoid any more disappointment before AF comes 😂

How about you with the testing?

OP posts:
purplecolouroffunk · 19/02/2024 10:58

@Atomickittyxx thanks! I've heard so many stories about people being really tired. Were those symptoms you had before a BFP?

OP posts:
SophT27 · 19/02/2024 12:23

@purplecolouroffunk I don’t know what to do for the best, part of me wants to wait until AF is “late” but another part of me wants to test again (I tested yesterday but not FMU and BFN - like stark white). But those white tests are almost more of a killer than AF arriving. I’ll see.

It was quite sore. I turned to lie on my front which eased it. I don’t generally get breast tenderness, but there is always a first time isn’t there.

I’ve been to the loo and the blood on wiping/sotting is less and still no AF.

bettynutkins · 19/02/2024 12:24

Nothing apart from missed period with first.

Kept crying for no reason second time round which made me do a test.

purplecolouroffunk · 19/02/2024 12:28

@SophT27 I feel exactly the same. The stark white tests are awful. Which type of tests have you been using?

My spotting seems to be a little heavier today - nowhere near as heavy as AF and still very light pink. Maybe means AF is on her way, who knows. It's quite strange that it's just been continuous but low level this month.

I don't understand why I've been light cramping so much for over a week, but I guess every cycle is different!

OP posts:
purplecolouroffunk · 19/02/2024 12:29

@bettynutkins thanks! I've been crying to crazy things over the past few days but might just be my hormones / the anticipation of all of this.

OP posts:
SophT27 · 19/02/2024 12:54

@purplecolouroffunk only cheap strips - I don’t want to be sending a fortune on the fancy tests because it feels like throwing it away.

if I had a possible BFP or was unsure I would then consider buying a fancier test.

the ones I have at the moment say they are to be used 5 days before a missed period, but I’m doubtful of that statement being true. I’m currently 6 days to AF on the Flo app.

what tests do you usually use?

Eddieegg · 19/02/2024 13:10

My main symptom was painful boobs, I always got sore heavy boobs after ovulating but when I got a bfp the pain was different, I was like a stabbing sensation from 7dpo. I actually took off my bra midday because I thought I must have a wasp down it or something, that’s how different it felt.

JustJessi · 19/02/2024 13:15

No signs. Just late period, we’d taken the month off from ttc so I wasn’t tracking anything and realised after a couple of days that I had missed AF.

purplecolouroffunk · 19/02/2024 14:19

@SophT27 same here. I’ve just been using the cheap easy@home ones I got from Amazon. Stark whites on all!

I totally agree with them saying they can be accurate that early. I feel like it’s a big claim to make! A lot of people never get pos tests til day of AF or later.

I think I’m going to get a first response for Thursday. Have heard of people getting neg on cheap strips but pos on FRER (but also other way round too). Knowing that reeally makes me want to go out right now and get a FRER but I’m going to resist 😂

hi ladies, can i join? i'm on 9dpo but no signs/symptoms.

I've had two miscarriages before, and both times my symptoms were really different - the first one i felt really sick/dizzy straight away from about 7dpo and had really bad indigestion/heartburn. the second one i didn't really feel sick at all up to 7 weeks, but really full/sore boobs and felt happy/tired a lot.

this month the only difference I've had is really vivid and crazy dreams, and waking up a lot in the night - but i think that's all hormonal. slightly more tired but could also be just lazy!! ha

Confusedddddddd · 19/02/2024 15:17

With my DD, it was the one month where I didn't really have any cramping. Then at 6dpo I was really dizzy and just felt weird. 7dpo - no symptoms. 8dpo super sore breasts which prompted me to test and had a faint line on a FRER. Proper pregnancy symptoms didn't come until about 8 weeks.

I had a ectopic last year. With that I had super painful ovulation and spotting from 1dpo - 4dpo then AF started (a week early). I was also very ill at that time with a stomach bug. We weren't TTC at the time so I just put everything down to the stomach bug, then we I would have been around 5 weeks I started feeling quite dizzy and nauseous so decided to test and it was positive. I was very confused about dates so called my GP who was concerned about my super strong tests despite having a period just 2 weeks before and the pain I had had just after ovulation, so I was sent for a scan and diagnosed with a pregnancy of unknown location. It was a scary time and was super sensitive to symptoms but had none until the tube ruptured at 8-9weeks.

We've now been TTC since then (the ectopic made us realise we don't want to wait), I've had a couple of weird months where tests turned positive outside the 5min timeframe around 8-10 dpo then nothing. Both times I had stabbing pains in uterus a few days prior. I'm having the same pains this month so we'll see if it means anything. Currently 7dpo and exhausted (let's hope that's a good sign)!

purplecolouroffunk · 19/02/2024 15:43

Welcome @chutney1!

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I hope you're doing okay?

It's so interesting how different pregnancies affect people. I've been the same actually - waking up about 4am and tossing and turning til my alarm goes off. And I've been really warm in bed which is unusual. Defo could all be hormonal though!

The tiredness is about the only really classic pregnancy symptom I'm not getting. Doesn't make me too hopeful!

Hello @Confusedddddddd!

I'm so sorry to hear about your ectopic - that sounds like such a stressful time for you. I hope you recovered okay and are doing well.

Sending you all the luck for this month!! I had a really marked stabbing pain somewhere near my right ovary last night. Came on really suddenly and then went almost just as quickly. Thought 11dpo might be too late for implantation though 🤔
