Confused with ovulation tests

Hi, hoping to draw on some expert knowledge here!
I’ve been tracking ovulation for 2 months now. Both last month and this month, I don’t seem to have a ‘peak’. Both apps that I use to track my cycle have indicated that ovulation should be today or tomorrow but my tests are not reflecting this at all.
Am I missing something? Do I need the digital tests as well? It’s all so expensive..

Heyy @Seasidesusy when do you start tracking because some people have a rapid peak where it comes and goes in the space of a few hours is if that’s you then you could have just missed the window but you have still ovulated. Also there are anovulatory cycles that can occur due to stress etc

How long is your cycle? Mine was 27 days and I’d get my peak on CD14 with ovulation confirmed by temping on CD15.

Edited to add the apps only work off averages, I wouldn’t rely on them to tell me what’s happening in my cycle except for how long they are because that’s information that you’re inputting. If you’re not entering OPKs and temps then it won’t be accurate.

LH peaks in the morning and takes a few hours to get into the urine so take your tests at midday and late afternoon.

Temping will help you pinpoint ovulation if you’re in a position to do so. OPKs are only part of the answer.

My tests only ever looked like that and I got pregnant, just keeep having sex until they go faint. Don’t get too obsessed with actual day

Thanks all. It’s gone down again today so I think you might be right about my peak being quick. We have DTD every other day for just over a week so hopefully I didn’t miss ovulation. I’ll look into temping as well.

My cycle is between 27-33 days. I started tracking on CD 10 which was 2 days after my period finished. Maybe I should try tracking from the day it finishes?

You might just be too early. I’d keep testing if I were you.

Hi OP, it looks like you haven’t reached your peak yet, keep testing. If your cycle varies up to 33 days long, you could be ovulating around day 19-20 or later if you have a short luteal phase. How many days did you do LH tests for last month?
it’s very uncommon for a luteal phase to be more than 14 days, so it’s most probable that you haven’t ovulated yet rather than you have already ovulated because then your cycle wouldn’t be 27-33 days.

Your apps know nothing about your cycle yet so please disregard what they are predicting because they will assume a day 14 ovulation but for many women this is not accurate, especially if your cycle can go up to 33 days. You need several months of inputting your cycle data (including when you get a peak LH) for it to start understanding and predicting more accurately.

I’ve attached a pic of my LH tests so you can see how much it can vary before you actually get a peak (I have irregular cycles so just have to test daily until it comes).
