Morning after pill but then no period? Could I be pregnant?

Hi all, bit of weird one. So 8 days ago (Saturday 10th February) my partners condom split while we were having sex and we decided I would get the plan b pill as we already have a 1 year old and wanted to wait for another. Anyway I rang the Sexual Health Clinic the next day (11th) and they said to come in the day after to get the pill sorted (appointment was for the 12th so 2 days after the incident). I was due on my period on the 11th but it didn’t arrive and I am usually very regular, I can predict the time of day and prepare for it.
so I got to my plan b appointment and they say it’s very unlikely I could get pregnant at that time in my cycle but just to be sure she’ll give me the pill. She did a pregnancy test since I was a day late too and it was negative.
it is now the 16th and still no period and no sign of it either! Had a slight tinge of pinkish blood when I wiped last night so I thought it was on its way but then there’s been nothing!
Could I be pregnant and I just ovulated late? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?
I know I took the morning after pill to stop pregnancy but if it did happen I would still be so excited, just need to look for double pushchairs lol

timeline of events to help lol:
10th - condom broke
11th - period was due but didn’t arrive
12th -took the morning after pill and negative pregnancy test
13th - no period
14th - no period
15th - slight tinge of pink blood when wiped in evening
16th - no period

Hi. I think it is unlikely that you are pregnant but not impossible. When I took the morning after pill it did mess up my cycle that month.

Fingers crossed you get the outcome you are hoping for 🤞

Hiddenvoice · 16/02/2024 20:05

When I’ve taken the morning after pill, it has messed up my cycle and I had a very late and short period. It’s unlikely you’re pregnant but try take another test to double check.

Bibblybumblebee · 16/02/2024 20:15

are you overweight?
I’ve read recently that if you weigh over a certain amount you should actually take 2 tablets - but pharmacists still only give 1.

it’s unlikely your pregnant but the MAP is never 100%

lollydu · 16/02/2024 20:28

From your dates I would say unlikely but if you have already ovulated it doesn't always work so nothings impossible. My first was a pregnancy that wasn't prevented by taking the MAP.

PlumpAndGrump · 16/02/2024 20:56

The pill will have messed with your cycle.

Are your cycles regular normally? Do you track them? This may be an idea as it will let you see how your body feels the time of the month when you are likely to get pregnant which is actually only a few days each month.

I got PG in almost exactly those circumstances. Condom spilt and had the morning after pill. Still PG.

MariaVT65 · 17/02/2024 08:42

I’d say not impossible but like PPs, the one time I took the pill, it did make my period late.

Knickerbockerstory · 17/02/2024 08:53

if your period was due the next day and you are as regular as you say you didn’t need to take it? I think it has probably just messed your cycle up so your period will be delayed for a bit

ChateauMargaux · 17/02/2024 08:57

The MAP delays ovulation by up to 5 days which allows the sperm to die before the egg is released. If you have already ovulated, the MAP is not effective at preventing pregnancy.

LizzeyBenett · 17/02/2024 09:04

It's not possible because the morning after pill works by delaying ovulation but if your period was due the 11th you would have most likely ovulated two weeks before that . It might of just messed your cycle up a bit but I don't see how you could be pregnant from sex the day before your period was due .

Thank you for all your messages. I know it is very unlikely, even the nurse said that to me but when I took the morning after pill I was already a day late, which is so unlike me! I am so regular I don’t normally have to track ovulation with tests or anything because it’s always the same every month but this month I can’t remember if I did get the ovulation symptoms as I was so stressed with work.
I put me being late down to stress but then as the nurse said, stress could’ve made me ovulate late, meaning I don’t know when I ovulated and that’s why she gave me the pill.
I only worry because i know how fertile me and my partner are, we got pregnant on the 1st month of trying before and so i know how quickly things can change.
i will definitely be looking into other forms of contraception after this incident
