Been a bit of a muppet re: contraception...

Hi folks, I took the opportunity that was given to me yesterday when DS (12 weeks) was asleep, me and DH were feeling amorous, and I wasn't feeling like a zombie to do the deed. First time post-birth I might add, so I was a little anxious about it.

What did completely fail to cross my mind though was contraception. It was only afterwards that I thought about it.

What are the chances of me being pregnant? I'm giving DS EBM and expressing every 5-6 hours regularly, although he does have a formula top up every few days. I haven't had a period yet, and no ovulation symptoms. Now I think the chances are fairly small, but I'm also aware that there's many kids out there that are testament to the fact that BF isn't an effective contraceptive!

As I have no cycle at the moment, how soon will I be able to take an accurate pregnancy test? I'm due to be fitted for my mirena coil next week, and I know this can't be done if pregnant (duh).

Any help for a bit of a muppet?

not sure if this helps, but i got pg with ds before my periods came back after having dd - she was about 5 months!
I think you will have to take a pregnancy test before you get the coil fitted just to be on the safe side.
If you are pregnant, you will be sent for a scan and they will give you a date based on that!
hope that helps!!
