Positive OPK?

Hi all,
Just did an OPK (2 actually) on CD11. I use NC and they analyse the photo and decide if positive or negative. The app is saying that this is a positive LH test but I'm not sure if it's dark enough? Do you think I should keep testing?
Thanks!

Hi what app do you use. I Wouldn’t of classed them but close

Panda101x · 12/02/2024 15:33

I’ve tuned phone brightness up now. The bottom one id say yes

piechipsgravy · 12/02/2024 15:43

I used Natural Cycles. I've tentatively logged as positive for now but will test again tomorrow morning and afternoon to see if it gets any stronger.

Ok I didn’t want to pay for them as paying enough on other help ttc

Another app you can try is Premom. I’ve only used it for a month so far (it’s free) but have found it’s a little hit and miss so be careful with lighting!

I second this. I’ve done different lights and it reads different most times. Some higher some low I now won’t trust it

Thanks @Bec0mum I did end up downloading Premom yesterday- these are my results so far:

No worries at all. Looking like there’s some progression there. These are mine. Do you know how to tell from them when you’ve ovulated? Is it so many hours from the start of the rise or from the peak or what?

@Bec0mum no idea I'm afraid- I haven't previously continued testing after a positive so not too sure how it all works.

🤷‍♀️ no worries @piechipsgravy Are you not supposed to keep going to see the peak and then the decline?

Looking on the Premom app tells me I ovulated on CD18 which is the day after it marks my peak so I guess today I’m 2dpo if that’s right but would be good to know if anyone else understand it better!

piechipsgravy · 13/02/2024 15:27

@Bec0mum this is my first cycle using the premom app- I've only ever used natural cycles who would just prompt you to do a test and if it was marked as 'positive' then you didn't get asked to test any more- they use bbt to confirm ovulation. So haven't ever tested after getting a positive result- whether that's been a peak or not.

I don't trust any of these apps to read these OPKs as it can depend on lighting etc. I personally always get very strong OPKs, one that is same as control line then day after a one thats darker than control line, so I just go with those.

Bec0mum · 13/02/2024 15:29

Aah I see. Do you track your temp? I’ve not done that as from what I’ve read I think it wouldn’t be accurate as I move around too much due to bedsharing with a breastfeeding toddler lol

Bec0mum · 13/02/2024 15:30

Oh really @TennisLady ? At first I was umming and ahhing but when I had that strong one on day 17 I was like ok, no doubting that’s my highest and the test line was stronger than control line without squinting haha

TennisLady · 13/02/2024 15:31

Ahhh I do track my temp (well, my apple watch does!) and that combined with OPKs usually matches up. I would keep going with OPKs until they fade off again.

CluelessInLondon · 13/02/2024 15:33

@Bec0mum The OPKs will never be able to tell you if/when you actually ovulated - your LH surge comes before you ovulate and that's all they can detect. You ovulate around 24 hours after your peak - your peak was CD17, hence why the app has recorded CD18 as your ovulation day. It's not an exact science though, you might ovulate a bit sooner or a bit later than 24 hours after you get your peak LH result.

TennisLady · 13/02/2024 15:34

@Bec0mum I find I usually ovulate 24-28 hours after I first see a strong OPK, I get a stronger than control line one the day after and usually my temp rises day after that so seems the first strong OPK signifies my peak.
I see so many people stressing over the amount premom gives them for their OPK, but I just go by if it's as strong as the control line or not. I think some people don't get them as strong though, or their peak happens quickly so they might miss it, in which case a daily photo to compare is probably helpful.

Bec0mum · 13/02/2024 15:44

Thanks ladies! I’ve previously just noticed that I get 3-5 days of ewcm and assumed I ovulate around then but wanted to try using these to see if it all matches up. I appreciate the input. I actually wear a Fitbit and I’m sure that tracks temp (I don’t look at it for that) so I might go and investigate lol
