Adenomyosis

Hi. I've recently been diagnosed with adenomyosis after complaining of pelvic and back pain. I'm shocked at this diagnosis as I have never had trouble conceiving before. But now I am struggling to conceive. But this could also be my age 45.
If you have adenomyosis what are your symptoms and has anyone managed to conceive with it.

Hello I have adenomyosis but I’m afraid I haven’t managed to get pregnant yet. I’m 37 and have been trying for 9 months. Both my husband and I have been tested and we are looking really good in terms of AMH, sperm etc. my symptoms are extremely heavy and painful periods particularly extreme lower back pain, occasional leg pain, pain after orgasm, occasional intense pelvic pain outside of my period (although this is very rare thankfully), fatigue and I did have spotting a few days before my period but that seems to have stopped. It’s possible I also have endometriosis but I haven’t had a laparoscopy for that and the fertility specialist doesn’t think I need one yet. What are your symptoms? How were you diagnosed? Hoping things are manageable for you!

Sorry to hear of your trouble conceiving. I went to the drs because of pain in pelvic area and extreme back pain. Pain in leg also. It's al on one side. I had a scan and was diagnosed with adenomyosis. Id had a scan a few years earlier and no mention of adenomyosis they just said I had a polyp.

Also have the drs said if there is anything you can do to help with conceiving with the condition

Unfortunately the fertility specialist says there is nothing to be done other than a hysterectomy which obviously isn’t an option right now. I think there are some experimental options being explored in the States but she said these weren’t viable at the moment, I’m not sure they even do them over here. I surprised symptoms for years with the coil but that’s obviously out the window now! I take it you’ve had other fertility tests? AMH etc? I just have have to try and manage symptoms when they come around and keep trying. It’s not been a year yet so I’m not toooooooo worried. They probably didn’t catch it a few years ago because it might not have been there or possibly because awareness has increased massively. Really unless you’re speaking to a specialist, medical professionals don’t always know a whole lot about it!

By surprised I obviously mean suppressed!

What do you take for the pain. I find paracetamol doesn't do much and I don't like the effect of cocodomol. The pain is awful sometimes. It seems to be worse at night.
Hopefully you get your bfp soon.

I was prescribed Mefenamic acid by my doctor. I also use a TENS machine, specifically a myoovi. I also have a heat massager for my lower back. I take cbd oil ans well. All these things help but they don’t make the pain go away completely to be honest. It’s certainly worth getting a prescription from your doctor and I have found reading up on it/podcasts etc quite helpful. Forewarned and all that!! There might be threads on here but I haven’t been organised enough yet for that. Have you undergone any other tests or anything? Can you afford to go private and speak to a specialist at all?
