When to do a test??

Hi everyone, might sound stupid but when should I take a test??
last period was 11th jan, had late ovulation 30/31st jan both positive ovulation tests on these dates , period is due today (8th ) going by apps-no sign but is that because ovulation was late?? Usually arrives before it’s actually due, previous dates - 26th oct, 22nd nov, 17th dec, 11th jan- I seem to be all over the place. I realise it may to be early to do a test as I would only be 8/9dpo? Or would it be considered testing on day of missed period. Thanks

You could test but very unlikely at 8/9 dpo. I have irregular cycles, so ovulation is a more accurate indicator than your last period. I only got a faint positive at 13 dpo.
