Cyclogest side effects

Is anyone else on Cyclogest progesterone pessaries and getting side effects? I'm around 5 and a half weeks pregnant and the tiredness since the weekend has been awful, I'm struggling to stay awake beyond 9. I'm assuming a lot of it is from the progesterone as I know it can cause tiredness. I had really sore boots up until this week too so glad that's eased off a bit.

I was absolutely the same on Cyclogest. I get very tired during the first trimester anyway, but it felt super-charged while I was on the pessaries.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

@ReetPetity glad it's not just me, never felt so exhausted all the time. Had 2 naps yesterday and still went to bed at 9 😂 thank you, can't relax yet though as still terrified things will go wrong again.

I'm on Cyclogest at the moment during my two week wait following an embryo transfer. I wouldn't say I'm any more tired than normal, but I do feel very bloated and have had a few light cramps. My test day is Sunday so I guess I'll find out whether it's side effects of the Cyclogest or pregnancy😂

@Custard7891 good luck! The tiredness didn't kick in until I'd been on it a couple of weeks. I could easily go up to bed now 😂. Light cramping seems normal too with it, I've had that every time I've put one in for the first 10-15 mins.

Thank you. I've been on it 2 weeks tomorrow. I've found the cramps have been a bit random to be honest, and not necessarily straight after. I'll have to see if the tiredness kicks in soon 😂

@Custard7891 There seems to be quite a lot of side effects from it. Good luck if the tiredness kicks in, you'll need it! Never known anything quite like it.

I was put on the Cyclogest pessary just after egg collection which was Monday just gone. I am supposed to have implantation tomorrow and have been told I need to take these pessary for up to 10 weeks. I have been getting awful side effects, constipation, cysts on my face and I feel like I have bit shot with a horse tranquiliser. I sleep 8 hours at night and by 12 noon I can't keep my eyes open and have four hour naps. I feel so low with this too. I am due to start my new job Monday and not sure how I can cope with this.

Should I just try and stick this out or should I ask to try Utrogestrone? Has anyone used this before? Did it work for you? Did you get less of the side effects?

RoseH36 · 16/08/2024 14:19

@Mixsii it's a long way to go so I'd ask about trying the other one instead in case symptoms don't settle down. Wishing you all the luck in the world x

Congrats! I can't say I recall any side effects at all. Any tiredness I would have put down to being pregnant.
Sorry of TMI- but I did find them incredibly messy when used vaginally. I added a tiny spec of lube and used them rectally. A bit uncomfortable for 5seconds, but no mess on my underwear.

Wow this is so interesting to see. I'm on the pessaries too, am 9 weeks now (previous miscarriages and bleeding and cramping early in this pregnancy) and probably been using them for 2 weeks ish. I am so exhausted and really can't function. I've been worrying it's because I'm older so not coping as well with the pregnancy as my first and it's been making me feel terrible like I've made the wrong decision, won't be able to cope with 2 etc. Really hoping it is the progesterone making it worse, it is so debilitating I feel like I can't do anything and just want to sleep all the time. Definitely wasn't like this with my first.

RoseH36 · 17/08/2024 07:53

@IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss I had horrendous tiredness when taking them, seemed to stop once I didn't need to take them anymore.

@IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss i really think it is the pessarys I was on them 5 days before transfer. Before transfer I was fine and since I have been sleeping 8 hours and night and napping for 4 hours in the afternoon. Just don't feel refreshed after the sleep and the constipation is also tricky. Again I didn't have that before I took the pessarys. Need to still keep taking them. Just got to stick with it, it seems.
