Can doctors do a test to see if you’ve ovulated?
I brought a box of 40 and I’m on CD 32 and still not ovulation but just ran out. If I go to the doctors once (if) my period starts hoping it doesn’t.. would they be able to test if I have ovulated? Because I want to get the ball rolling if there is something wrong with my body and it not ovulating. I’m already on the wait list for gynaecologists about my irregular periods are other problems but have been for a while.

Yes they can do a blood test to see if you've ovulated. Usually cycle day 21 because that should be after ovulation but if you've got irregular periods you might ovulate later. How long are your cycles normally?

@CatmumTTC My cycles are anywhere between 28 - 49 I’ve had in the past I’m currently on cd 32 and no signs I’ve ovulated and no signs of period so think this months gunna be a long one too

Have you had any blood tests to check for PCOS symptoms? Like AMH and LH ratio? If there's a wait on the GP if recommend Hertility for at home blood test.

GP shouldn't make you wait too long for a PCOS diagnosis if you've got irregular periods and are TTC. Then you'll get more fertility support, like medication to help you ovulate.

I've never been able to pick up ovulation on OPKs. My LH is always quite high but never surges. I have PCOS, most of my periods are anovulatory bleeds which means my body tried to ovulate several times and eventually gave up and bled. That's why my cycles tend to be on the long side. I probably ovulate every few cycles if that.

@CatmumTTC Ive had a blood test done but was only taken on one day back in July 2023 I also had an ultrasound that came back clear.
When ever I read about late positive ovulation or ovulation lines looking the same it’s mainly people with pcos so I did that maybe that but because my test and ultrasound was normal I think it’s highly unlikely but I’m not sure. This is only the 4th month TTC but first month using opk and because I’ve not had a positive opk this month ( of what I know might of had one after I ran out ) I’m going to contact the doctor Monday. I rather be pushy now than wait. I have got a lg who’s 3 in April and she was conceived straight away my problems with periods only started after I came off the pill back in December 2022

PCOS is a set of symptoms with many causes. So depends what blood tests you had. People are often diagnosed with PCOS but the cause could be insulin resistance, being overweight, stress... There are also similar conditions like NCAH which can be responsible for irregular periods (something to look into if you started periods late but rest of puberty was early). It's not unusual for periods to take two years to normalise after being on hormonal birth control, and the pill can mask symptoms of other health issues. So might be worth another blood test now your body has had more of a chance to find it's own rhythm.

Good luck with the GP, good shout being pushy. If you have irregular periods and are TTC they usually don't make you wait for some tests. Because irregular periods suggest you aren't ovulating properly, no matter the cause.
