Conceive after mc

Harveybelle · 01/02/2024 09:16

Hey all, I recently had a mc at 11 weeks. This was my 2nd and my partners 1st. We have realised so much through the loss that we want a baby. So we're aiming to try again asap.
Just looking for some positive stories - wondering how long it took and hoping that if we're lucky enough to conceive, we have a happy ending this time 🌈

Hi OP. I am in a similar situation to you. I had my MC on New Year's Day and was hoping I would conceive on that cycle. That hasn't happened but I'm at the end of my AF now so feeling positive about moving forward. Two friends MC very recently and both fell within the first or second cycle. It's very common, so just keep doing what you're doing because it's worked before! Are you taking supplements/vitamins etc? Xx

Bali200 · 01/02/2024 14:41

Sorry for your loss, I had a MMC mid aug with my first baby and waited for my first period to return before trying again as recommended by the doctor. I then fell pregnant again on the second cycle trying and I’m now 17+3 🌈 sending lots of positive vibes your way x

Cinai · 01/02/2024 14:47

I got pregnant in my first cycle of trying (I waited 1 cycle for my period to come back) after a miscarriage and this although I’m 40. Still early days for me, but I believe we’re more fertile after a miscarriage. I’m sorry for your loss!

Harveybelle · 01/02/2024 15:49

Thanks all - I'm sorry for your losses. It's heartbreaking, I've never known a feeling like it.
Let's hope we all get our rainbows.
I'm still taking folic acid - but will look into other vitamins. What do you recommend?

OP posts:
Bali200 · 03/02/2024 06:24

@Harveybelle folic acid and vit d are what they recommend to take. I was also taking 100mg vit b and 1000mg vit c the cycle when I got my bfp after the mc as I had heard they keep progesterone high x

Ems1992 · 04/02/2024 13:43

Hello!

I had a loss in August, was advised to wait 3 months due to D&C, pregnant again by December lost that one end of December… now pregnant again and 5+1.
who knows if this is going to be a positive ending! But I guess it shows losses don’t affect the act of GETTING pregnant!! Good luck.. I’m sure it will work out xxx

shohopeful · 05/02/2024 09:14

@Ems1992 thank you for sharing this! And congratulations. Everything crossed for you. Xxx

MarceyMc · 05/02/2024 09:40

I had a MC 11th Aug last year and got my BFP on 6th Sept as we decided to try again straight away - not ideal as no period in between but currently 25 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. I should probably say I didn't need to have any intervention and passed everything naturally and I know the advice is different if you have to have D&C, etc

Figtree11 · 05/02/2024 13:58

Hi everyone, so sorry to hear of the losses you’ve had, but great to hear success stories.
Hope you don’t mind me asking this question on your thread OP, but how long did it take for you all to get regular cycles after your MC? I had a MMC in November & only had 1 period so far, and don’t seem to be getting anywhere with ovulation sticks

Harveybelle · 05/02/2024 14:09

Hey @Figtree11 - so I'm still waiting for mine. The nurse said I should expect it 4-6 weeks after my bleeding from the mc stopped (which was Friday)...

Figtree11 · 05/02/2024 14:12

Hi @Harveybelle hopefully you aren’t waiting too long. Mine took 9 weeks to come back, I was frantically googling & was worried, but seems everyone’s bodies are just so different to each other

Harveybelle · 05/02/2024 14:13

Definitely that... we want to try again but equally wondering do we play it safe for a little while to make sure I get back to regular. It's a minefield..

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 05/02/2024 14:22

So sorry for your loss OP.

I miscarried last January and it took us 8 months to conceive after.

We normally conceive pretty quickly but I know your body and cycle can take a few months to return to 'normal'.

Good luck x

I miscarried before my first son and he was conceive 3 months later and completely healthy low risk pregnancy. I think as long as you have your period back it should be ok x

emmatcc1 · 05/02/2024 14:57

From what I’ve read online waiting for the first period is only for dating purposes unless you had medical management or d&c. I’m still waiting to fully miscarry and then we’ll try again straight after I stop bleeding.

shohopeful · 05/02/2024 15:08

@emmatcc1 we did the same! Just tried straight away. For us it didn't work but I don't regret it. It's almost like trying to cheat the system avoiding that dreaded period. Our friends also did this and did conceive and actually had their baby yesterday. We're just waiting for my EWCM to appear to try for this cycle.
The toll it takes mentally and physically is tough. Be kind to yourself and take as much time as you need. My body wasn't ready to conceive straight away and it broke my heart and I'm still worried about when it'll happen again for us. But hopefully none of us are waiting too long. This part, after accepting the MC is happening and waiting for a BFP I have found so challenging so I am here if you want to vent xx

emmatcc1 · 05/02/2024 15:39

@shohopeful How long did it take you to conceive the first time? It took us 17 cycles and I’m so anxious it’s gonna take that long again. At least now we’re sure we are ready for a baby and know we can get pregnant naturally as doing ivf was another worry I had. Only thing left to do is find a new ob as the one I had now was horrible and didn’t explain anything, barely said any words during the appointment. She also didn’t tell me what my miscarriage options are and sent me straight to the hospital to get medical management, thankfully I started bleeding two days later and I’m waiting for it to pass naturally. I just know I’m gonna get yelled at when I go in for an ultrasound to check everything has passed.

shohopeful · 05/02/2024 16:27

@emmatcc1 that is awful I am so sorry. You always have to do what's right for you, and they don't always know that (but they should!!). We started trying in the summer and conceived in November so it wasn't too long. My friend who had a MC and conceived without a period was over a year though! How old are you? I'm 34 and wish I'd started sooner but can't go back unfortunately!

emmatcc1 · 05/02/2024 16:59

@shohopeful I’m 21 but my partner is 27 and I want to be done having kids by the time he’s around 35. Ideally we want 3-4 kids but definitely at least two. My mom’s friend is 42 and currently pregnant on accident. I think ttc is a true game of luck.

WeeOrcadian · 05/02/2024 18:34

Slightly different but I had an ectopic in August, got a BFP beginning of October. It can happen. The main reason for waiting is for dating purposes

Good luck 🤞🏼

shohopeful · 06/02/2024 08:18

@emmatcc1 it really is!! Sending you lots of baby dust xo

shohopeful · 26/02/2024 05:32

I got my BFP this morning! Couldn't sleep and my temp dropped a bit so thought I'd take a test to put myself out of my misery, but it was positive. So that was my first full cycle after MC. (I did have one period in between)
It felt like a lifetime and here for anyone going through it.
Now have the mental gymnastics of trying not to think about this one ending in a loss. Sending love to everyone on here/reading it in need xxx

Harveybelle · 26/02/2024 12:42

Congrats @shohopeful! How are you feeling?
I'm still waiting for my first post miscarriage period but hopeful to fall again as soon as my body allows it.

emmatcc1 · 26/02/2024 13:18

@shohopeful Congrats!! so happy for you.

shohopeful · 26/02/2024 14:45

@Harveybelle it feels like an eternity I totally get it but one day at a time. You'll get there! Are you taking Vitamin D? Sending you love and baby dust. Hope it happens for you soon xxx
@emmatcc1 thank you so much xx
