Can anyone shed any light on the situation? This post contains TMI just a heads up lol.

My breastfed LO is 9 months and my first PP AF arrived just before New Year and was my usual length of 3-4 days and my cycle is 28 days, or was pre baby. I'm 100% expecting my cycles to be out of whack but I'm really confused.

So I track on Flo which has estimated my O day as CD14 based on my previous cycles but I used OPKs around then and never got a positive. I also only had the tiniest amount of EWCM around then too. Kept hubby at arms length because I wanted to track the first cycle just to see what was going on.

From about CD22 I was getting cramps on and off and was expecting AF to turn up. But here we are at CD34 and still nothing. But the strangest thing happened. I had a ton of EWCM on CD32 the amount I used to get around O pre baby. Today we have a lot of creamy CM.

Did I O super late? We DTD the day before, and I check CM every day so I know that it wasn't left over semen over 24hrs later. If I Od late will I now have a chance of being pregnant? I'm so confused. If anyone has any experience please enlighten me.

Thanks for reading if you got this far. I appreciate it. X

Hi Op

It’s definitely possible that you ovulated late as breastfeeding can suppress/ delay ovulation. I am 11 months pp and ebf my baby, my period came back at 8 months post partum. My first cycle was 39 days and I didn’t track ovulation. The next cycle was 34 days and I ovulated on day 23, which is late for me compared to pre baby.
Third cycle was a much shorter 29 days, but I tracked ovulation and ovulated on day 19, which is still late for me. Currently in the 4th cycle and believe I have ovulated today, based on ewcm which is cd18. It can take quite some time for cycles to return to any normal pattern as far as I have been told, especially while breastfeeding. I would say it’s not impossible to be ovulating very late, especially whilst breastfeeding!

Hi op, similar situation here!
I'm almost 10months PP EBF. My first period started 3rd Jan, I did OPKs from cd8, got a positive on cd24. Currently on cd28 so in TWW 🤞

Did you stop using OPKs?

TheCakeIsALie18 · 30/01/2024 16:12

@Cdoc @dmb91 thank you both!

I did OPKs around the time I would usually O and all were negative but Flo put me down as O on CD14 which is when I would pre baby.

So because AF hadn't arrived by CD30 I took OPKs again on the morning of CD30, 31, and the afternoon of 32. CD30 and 31 were faint and 32 was a lot darker. I wondering whether I may have O on the evening of 31 and by OPK on CD32 the LH was on the way down? What do you think? Sorry it's a lot of acronyms and number haha.

On CD31 I had been cramping and said to OH let's DTD to help ease my cramps. Up until then I had kept him at arms length because I wanted to see what my cycle was doing. I had a bath the morning of CD32 so I do know for sure that it wasn't left over semen when EWCM showed up later that day. I thought I had come on with the amount of it. Sorry TMI but it took 5 wipes!!!

So maybe I'm now in the TWW?! Xx

@TheCakeIsALie18 Yes that could be the case! Especially if CM has always been an accurate indicator of ovulation for you.
Good luck 🤞
