First month tracking ovulation. Am I getting closer? I feel like they all look the same, I know you can wake up and it be a solid line but I don’t feel they’ve changed in the slightest. I also get bad bloating for about 2 weeks before period but I’ve not had that.
I do have irregular periods between 28-49 (don’t know why)
Ive got the Premom app but it doesn’t work that great think it’s cause I struggle to get the right lighting. And I can also see the lines better on paper.

Hi Lauren.
Did you only start doing them on CD 13? The average day of ovulation is around CD12-16. Is it possible you ovulated earlier?

Lauren8642 · 28/01/2024 21:56

@DLP92 Should have put that on here - I started doing them on cd 10 my period was 9 days (very strange for me) even tho my cycle is irregular I’m always 5/6 days. So I just started taking them after my period finished

I've never had a peak before my cycles have been wacky for months!! I'm cd30 and I'm hitting my peak!! Keep testing xx

Lauren8642 · 29/01/2024 07:53

@Jadeypie do you have a reason for your cycles to be all over the place? Just tested CD 28 and it’s even lighter. Whether I’ve already hit peak and not tested in time (even tho I’ve tested morning and night) or I’ve not hit it yet. We’ve been lazy dtd aswell because of not getting a positive. Took a HCG test this morning too just to check and negative

Do you have PCOS? or any other symptoms suggestive of this? You are right though, from the photos you have given I don’t see a peak in there x

I've also been struggling with strips but received lots of good advice here.

My tests looked like yours until I moved my test time from 8am to 10:30am. My evening ones showed even less of a result, but it's still good to have the comparison. On your tests, it looks like your mid-morning ones are strongest. Mine still haven't hit peak, but there was a slightly darker like from the mid-morning tests. I also didn't drink anything after 9pm last night to make sure it was really concentrated this morning. I did one at 08:10 this morning as I'll be out mid-morning and it was noticeable darker than all the other mornings with more hydrated urine.

The other thing I want to say is that some of us don't produce as much hormone as others. Your peak could be different to mine. Some people do still ovulate with lower LH levels than the standard levels expected. Last month, I used the CB digitals (two different types) and neither ever picked up my peak. One never even picked up 'high'. I still ovulated though, because I found out I was pregnant first week of January. Sadly, it ended in a chemical, but it was good to know that it still happened even when I thought it couldn't have.

Lastly, I've ovulated like clockwork on day 13 or 14 of my cycle for the last five months. I'm now on day 16 this cycle and I've only just had the beginnings of a slight rise. I'll probably ovulate somewhere around 18-22. It's never a given, sadly, and I feel for anyone with irregular periods because it makes it that much harder. Of course, some months it is normal to simply not ovulate. I can see some variation in your lines, so

Keeping going ❤️.

Hey OP, irregular periods that are on the long side could suggest your body is trying to ovulate several times throughout the month and failing to release an egg. Eventually it gives up as your lining thickens too much for implantation to be successful and you get a period. How long have you been TTC? If it's been a while might be worth asking for an ultrasound or blood test to check your AMH to test for PCOS. You can also get a blood test towards the end of your cycle to see if you ovulated and missed it.

I've got PCOS and my periods used to be so irregular before I went on inositol a few months ago and made other lifestyle changes (mostly to my diet) - they were between 35 and 50 days and was rarely ovulating properly - never caught it on OPKs. Regular periods are a good sign of overall health so worth investigating what's going on there. I feel much better in myself recently, last two periods have been 30 days, my mood is better and I have more energy and no acne. And the OPKs are looking more promising this month!

@Lauren8642 mine have been messed up for the last year! I don't no what's going on scans are all fine just got a appointment with the endocrinologist on Wednesday (specialist in hormones ect) I agree with pp it does all depend on times and wee holds. I was very shocked to see my peak today but I'm rolling with it xx

Lauren8642 · 29/01/2024 21:22

@Ems1992 @CatmumTTC I havent been diagnosed with anything. I had an ultrasound back in August last year because I went to the doctors about my irregular periods I also have painful sex (sorry tmi) but the ultrasound was normal. I had one lot of blood test and they came back fine aswell.
I have got a 2 year old - 3 in April. And she was conceived first month off the pill. But this time I’ve been off the pill since December 2022 and 4th cycle trying first month tracking( which I know is not a lot my main concerned is if I’m not ovulating) x

@KittyFantastica I struggle doing the test later in the day because of work so I always do them before I leave for work (holding my bladder all night if I can then till I leave for work) then do it again when I get home about 5:30/6:30 holding my bladder from about 2:30ish I’m rubbish at holding my bladder 🤦🏼‍♀️
I have thought on some days where my lines been quite dark is that a peak but no where near like some peoples pictures of tests.
We have been really lazy with dtd because I’ve not had my positive for example we’ve not done it since Wednesday. I’ve only got enough test till Thursday so I’m hoping to ovulate or start my period or something by then 😒 x
