After a tough few years we now feel ready to try for our first baby.
I am currently 8 DPO I tried a test today but negative, SO hard not to be thinking it.
I know first time would be rare. we DTD twice during my fertile window. We've had issues with intimacy so thats a real achievement for us!
Did I test to early or should I try not to get my hopes up!

Also can you get bulk tests somewhere?

Hi there 😊 it is my first time trying too. I hear easy @ home tests are good and have them in my amazon basket, £8.49 for 20. Some people are getting very faint lines at 8 DPO but I tested on Friday at around 11 DPO and got a BFN. AF still isn't here so I am not out yet!!

I hear you on the intimacy side, we are the same 22yrs together and it could be better. Have you tried spicing things up to try and take your mind off TTC?

Good luck with your journey and hope it isn't too long for you x x

Hi. My first time trying was last month. Had my AF last week and was very upset, it ok to be a little downhartened. Currently on CD8. Gonna start trying again in next few days. Best of luck to you.

BeckyPfromLeeds · 29/01/2024 06:40

BFN for me this morning on CD29 😔 Still bo sign of AF yet so I could still be in with a chance. Fingers crossed for us both 🤞

Sara1988 · 29/01/2024 07:06

I'm the same! First cycle trying and no 9dpo. Got a negative this morning. Will try again tomorrow. Wishing you luck!

Testing 8DPO is wild honestly, at least wait until your period would be due! Good luck.

It’s very very common to conceive very quickly so don’t think negatively! Think of all the millions of surprise babies in the world.

CaribbeanCupcake · 29/01/2024 07:40

8DPO is too early to get a positive- whilst people will jump on and tell you they got it, it's very very rare.
Try not to go down the rabbit hole of testing so early as this makes TTC even more stressful. At least wait until your period is due. A healthy couple can take 12 months+ to conceive so give yourself a good chance and keep busy during your TWW

Test again in 4 days

Istheregoldattheendoftherainbow · 29/01/2024 09:03

Easier to say that do but my advice is relax. We were trying for 4 months to no avail until it happened and I miscarried. We ‘paused’ trying. No ovulation sticks, had sex whenever we wanted (nurse said we were having too much the first month we were trying but that was just our sex life), no stressing. We went on holiday and said we’d try again when we came back from holiday etc not knowing I had already got pregnant in that time of ‘not trying’ and tested positive 13 DPO. Don’t test too early either. Best of luck to everyone trying x

First month of trying for me, been off the pill 7 months, and think AF has arrived this morning. Am 8dpo, so hard not to be gutted when everyone around you tells you how quickly they fell pregnant!

Has anyone tried the home sperm tests? Anyone recommend a brand? I had an ultrasound and it showed ‘normal’ just waiting on blood test results. I just want to know if I’m wasting my time or not, but guess no one really knows the as we to that. 😢

I got pregnant first month trying to conceive and it was a massive shock for 3 reasons.

  1. It's pretty rare for it to happen first go, and I'm 35 so assumed it would take ages.
  2. My two digital ovulation trackers failed to detect my peak at all so we had no idea exactly when I ovulated. We DTD over the course of my predicted ovulation on Clue (which is completely inaccurate for me this month, but obviously hit the bullseye last month!)
  3. I had zero symptoms at all until what must have been somewhere between DPO10 - DPO12

I had weird non-period-like cramps and ever so slightly sore boobs one day and did a test just to rule it out. It was negative. The next day, I woke up and the cramping was so strong I assumed AF had arrived four days early. I got out of bed to deal with it and there was no sign. I was so confused and felt strange, so did another test and had the faintest line I've ever seen. It was a massive shock.

Sadly, that pregnancy ended in an early loss after just 12 days of knowing. It has given us hope going forward, but I know the chance of falling that quickly again is almost zero. I honestly think it was being relaxed about it that helped!

Try and chill a bit. You’re testing too early. Have you been taking your folic acid in advance of trying?

BeckyPfromLeeds · 29/01/2024 10:23

I have, yes. I'm taking pregnacare conception and omega 3 😁

Fluorescentgem · 29/01/2024 10:27

Wait til you've missed a period
