Ovulation test vs flo app

Hi,
I need help, hand holding and some sort of talking off the ledge.

trying to baby #2, I fell straight away with DC1 which is think isn’t helping with trying for #2.

Ive been using the flo app and DTD on days when im ovulating or at least it says i am… however ive not been successful.

ive been to the GP who sent me for blood tests, I’ve seen chats on here about day 21 bloods however I wasn’t told it had to be on a certain day in my cycle. It was a choose and book for the first available blood test. I’ve also had a scan to see if there’s anything wrong with my ovaries and all came back clear (apart from having ‘sticky platelets which dr didn’t go into more detail about)

im now using the ovulation sticks and it’s coming back not ovulating on the days the app is fertility is high & high change of getting pregnant. My periods are regular & always on time so im struggling to see why im not ovulating when i should be.

im now in the mind of ‘im not ovulating which is why its not successful’ which is worrying me. I know its stupid but i cant understand why its taking me so long to fall the 2nd time round.

any help, advice or hand holding would be appreciated

Hi OP, have you tried using OPK’s for the whole month, once your period ends? I ask only because you may be ovulating slightly earlier or slightly later than Flo suggests, and if you are anything like me the surge on OPK’s happens very quickly, so you may be missing it if you stop testing? Sorry if you are already doing this, just a thought.
You aren’t by any chance feeding DC1 still?
Sorry it’s so stressful for you.

Victoriaspongecake1 · 28/01/2024 14:24

thank you for coming back to me.

no not feeding DC.

i started the OPK as soon as my period finished and it’s coming up not ovulating on them whereas the app is saying my fertility should be high.

who would have thought trying for baby#2 would be so hard

Hi, so just to clarify do you test from that day your period ends right up until you get your next period?
You haven’t said how long your cycle usually is other than it being regular, but basically the Flo app knows nothing about your cycle and will assume you ovulate around day 14, but it’s pretty common not to ovulate then at all.
For example I ovulate around day 20 and my cycle tends to be 29-30 days long. So if yours was similar you might just not be using opks at the right time if you haven’t tried taking them for long enough.

So my cycle is every 21 days, this is the first time using the OPK so wasn’t sure when to start testing so started as soon as I finished my period. It’s just showing that the app isn’t matching the sticks so I’m confused

You really can’t rely on an app to say when you ‘should’ be ovulating. How long have you been TTC and how many cycles have you used opks? Have you ever had a positive opk?

If you keep testing and then update the app when you get a positive, Flo gets better at predicting. Otherwise Flo just guesses.

Victoriaspongecake1 · 28/01/2024 17:38

Oh thank you, I didn’t realise you could do that! I’ll do that

Sorry but of course the app won’t match your sticks. I think Flo app is rubbish, totally wrong for me and it didn’t adjust when I entered test results. The Premom app and easy@home tests are so much better.

Flo is pretty accurate for me now - but I've added months and months of ovulation results to it. It wasn't accurate at all at first.

But I agree about using Premom.

Both Clue and Flo told me I'd ovulate on the 26th of this month. However, I had a chemical earlier this month and neither of the apps can really understand the difference in my cycle, so it predicted what it's always predicted (the average).

I got peak on all my ovulation tests today so will ovulate in the next 12-36 hours.

I wouldn't go by just the apps! Not unless you've got a clockwork cycle and ovulate bang on the same day every month.

Girlfolk · 29/01/2024 16:11

I’ve been using Flo and Premom for a year and always enter my cycle date including when I have positive and negative OPKs and it’s still not completely accurate but I know that so don’t ever rely on it. I just find it useful for keeping track.

Victoriaspongecake1 · 29/01/2024 19:53

well as of yet the sticks are matching what the app says and I’m not ovulating. I had a scan done just before Xmas on my ovaries and the sonographer and GP said everything was fine. Can you tell by the scan if you have/are ovulating?
