Pregnancy or perimenopause

Background - we have been ttc for 5 years. We have had fertility treatment which didn't work. We stopped fertility treatment 14 months ago. I am 40 this year.
My fertility problems are hormone related, they are just a mess, if I ovulated then my lining wasn't thick enough for implantation.

I am late by a week. I had horrific back pain/ period type pain, I am snappy ( which i never am) and my boobs are so sore.

I did a test what I was 3 days late it was negative.

I am leaning towards perimenopause simply because I know I have rubbish hormone levels as it plus I have been having hot flushes and night sweats for a few months now.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms and it has been perimenopause ? I really don't want to get my hopes up. I also don't really want to go through this every month until menopause kicks in always hoping.

Thanks

It could be either. My peri menopause started with lighter periods, grumpiness ha always played a part around the time period was due. Tender breast and back ache never started till the night sweats. I'm hrt now. Pregnancy is also possible and I hope you are but in all honesty I would do another test and then book a doctors appointment if still no sign.

You could test sooner, just use first wee of the day, apparently some test are better than others but I wouldn't know

By now tests would show if you were pregnant as you are a week late.

This gives me hope! Lovely news. We are 3 cycles after a tfmr after trying for 18 months before that. I tested negative yesterday at 10 DPO and negative today but my period was due today and it’s not here yet so I don’t know what’s going on! Oh and my temperature is still up too!
