Too anxious to do a test!

Hi all. First Post here so not sure if I've got all the language right apologies. TTC for about 9 months or so, both myself and partner are 33 and otherwise well. AF last came on 22 November and I KNOW everyone will think I obviously should have tested right away but I am so scared of disappointment I keep putting it off to the next week. After much delay i finally bought a test today but shoved it in the back of my wardrobe...
AF usually quite regular 28-32 day cycles, did have a nasty viral infection which lasted 2 weeks and big house move earlier this month which may have caused some delay and possibly me not being so keen to test as I figured life events were in the way of AF arriving. Not particularly stressed or anything unusual otherwise.
Had reallyy sore boobs a few weeks ago and intermittent veryyy faint nausea more like just not wanting to eat due to the infection I'm assuming, tired. Had some thrush as well and now increased cervical mucus. Just need some encouragement to test and maybe that I'm not the only crazy one like this?? I am (almost) a GP so silently judging myself too for this considering if I saw a patient who was 2 months late and hadn't done a pg test I'd be calling them crazy lol. Sorry for long rant. Looking for some similar ladies or some words of encouragement. Feels like periods coming on for the past so many weeks but no sign of it thus far!! Mentally I won't test for another week I think. Call me crazy lol.

Do a test so at least you'll know whether you are pregnant or not

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 22/01/2024 21:55

November? You are now nearly about to miss your second period surely. Just test (in the nicest possible way for your own sanity)

You need to know ASAP cos of getting booked in for scans. You are potentially already 8 weeks pregnant

Can I ask why you're so anxious about doing the test? Obviously you realize that not doing a test doesn't change whether you're pregnant or not! What's frightening about the confirmation? Is it that you're hoping you are so much that if the test is negative you have to face that disappointment or is it that being pregnant is now a real possibility and that reality brings a whole load of other anxieties with it? Either way you know that the best thing to do is to take the test. You and your partner WILL handle the outcome together. I hope you do the test soon!

If it’s a negative pregnancy test, you’ll feel sad obviously but also some form of relief I imagine. You’ll just be working yourself up and possibly delaying your period even more! Keeping everything crossed for you though, I’m very optimistic for you!

MrsB2019x · 22/01/2024 21:59

If you are pregnant, you’ll be about 8/9 weeks so the hook effect could be an issue for you.. just something to bear in mind if the test appears negative!

Please do the test tomorrow otherwise you’re only torturing yourself. Best of luck 💐

@Izzie90 girl…go & do the bloody test 😂 Burying your head is doing you no good. Be brave & get it done 🤞🏼🍀

I would've thought morning sickness would have answered the question by now. But I agree - better to test. If you're negative, then start testing for the next ovulation.

Izzie90 · 23/01/2024 07:16

Oh my gosh I didn't know this forum would be so persuasive lol! JUST did the test and omg its a BFP!!! Sorry if anyone's thinking well duh but I was so not expecting it because just kind of gave up on seeing a positive. All kinds of feels. Planning to tell OH on his bday in a few days.

Too anxious to do a test!

akk · 23/01/2024 09:40

I mean this in the nicest possible way but it's somewhat reassuring to know that TTC sends even the medically/scientifically trained and those who should know better a little crazy 😁

Congratulations! 😍

Izzie90 · 23/01/2024 12:46

@akk hahah omg you have no idea. Every single day I kept debating whether I should do a test at my surgery but kept putting it off thinking its just stress and AF will come soon. SO relieved now! I really don't know any better!! 🤣🤣
