How quickly can sperm swim to the egg? DTD ovulation day.. not sure if we were in time!

Just wondering :) I had a positive OPK about 15hrs before DTD on CD14.

Only DTD on CD9 evening and CD14 lunchtime… almost positive I ovulated, probably around the late afternoon on CD14. Did we mess up the timings? I know should’ve aimed for 12 or 13 as well.

Sperm from 5 days earlier will still be there waiting. You don’t ovulate the day of the surge, but usually 12-24hours afterwards. Your day 14 timing sounds good, sperm are quite quick! Your orgasm also pumps your cervix up and down to help suck them through too.

I hope you’re right!! It’s so nerve wracking

You usually ovulate, on average, the day after a peak and the egg will live between 12 and 24 hours.

It takes sperm approximately 10-12 hours to be ready to fertilise as there's a whole process they have to go through first.

Your timing seems fine. In fact I conceived from dtd around 12 hours after getting peak. Currently 25 weeks with a girl.
