Hi,

I am on 100mg sertraline and have been for a few years. I have been told by my clinic that they need to liaise with my gp to ensure that there will be no issues re welfare of any child that I may have as a result of ivf. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

Also on 100mg sertraline here and on waiting list to start IVF. It came up in usual discussion of “are you on any medication?”at my first fertility clinic appointment and I was told by the consultant that sertraline is pregnancy safe. I confirmed this with my own psychiatrist just to be 100%. Hasn’t been mentioned at all since.

Our IVF babies are 27 and 28. While we were waiting to do IVF in Leeds a couple hit the papers because they were not married and he had several children he didn't see and they had a baby via IVF. When we next went for an appointment we were asked if we were married.

IVF clinics are required to prioritise the welfare of any babies they help create. Doctors do not enjoy this duty so will just ask someone to confirm that this drug won't prevent you being a good parent.

Don't worry about it.
