BBT help

Hi all, this is my first month properly tracking my BBT using my Apple Watch and natural cycles. Been TTC for about 6 months now and at age 40 got the obvious worries. How does this chart look? I feel like I’m out this month with the temp drop. AF is due in about 4 days, day 26 or 27. Was really hoping it would rise again 🙈

Hi! I've been BBTing for 4 years now using NC so happy to interpret!

Your chart looks great and you've had a clear increase in BBT which means you have ovulated. My temps also take a day or two to go above to cover line after ovulating. Generally in a non-conceived cycle temps stay high and then significantly drop the day of or day before AF. There's also a chance if your temp drops significantly for one day then back up high again, around 6 - 8 dpo, this is implantation. I think it's still too early to tell how you're getting on this month with regards to conceiving, but the general rule is as long as the temps are maintained above the cover line around AF time you're still in the game 😁 so best to keep at it!

BBTing has been such an amazing learning tool, make sure to temp the same time every day! I also use my notes for spotting symptoms and learn my cycle patterns. Good luck & keep us updated!

@J3llycat ahh thank you so much for you’re reply! That’s so reassuring that if nothing else it looks like I’m ovulating and it looks as it should!

I am tracking my temp using my Apple Watch so luckily it takes it all through the night while I’m asleep and registers the reading in the morning. Which is good as I found it so hard to do things right with a thermometer 🙈

i think it will be a big help though! Especially when I get to know what’s my normal! Lol if there is such a thing. Will keep my fingers crossed :) thanks again 😁

Your chart appears to confirm ovulation.
I don't recommend bbt for anything other than confirming ovulation since it's not a reliable indicator of pregnancy. Pregnancy hormones actually send your bbt all over the place. It can be up or down or both.
My drop in bbt usually did confirm AF was coming I'm currently 14weeks pregnancy and on the month we conceived my bbt had still dropped so I really don't think it means anything regarding pregnancy. Some women do experience constant high temps but not everyone does. I didn't experience it in either pregnancy

@MoonIightDreamer Thank you, that’s reassuring to hear. As I feel once you see the drop it’s hard not to think you’re out again. But good to know that’s not necessarily the case! I guess main thing to take from this is it looks like I’m still ovulating normally, so that’s good to know! I also had my peak on my opk to confirm :)

@Em39al I've had months even when my bbt stayed high but AF still arrived.
Supposedly it's progesterone that rises your bbt but even in my early pregnancy I was on progesterone and bbt was still low so its not an exact science but it always did confirm ovulation at least
