Hi all,

Would love your views and opinions on this. Currently pregnant for the second time feeling lucky and grateful and just taking it day by day. I have a 2 year old toddler. I have only ever been pregnant twice, this one now and in my first pregnancy which resulted in my toddler.

Ahead of conceiving my first child we were trying for 4 months and I was “symptom spotting” constantly during the two week wait. The reason I mention this is because I was hyper aware of literally everything going on in my body and every month I would write down what I noticed so that I could refer to it the next month - I would have pangs / pains / tiredness etc and would think it was because I was maybe pregnant. Then my period would arrive and I’d be like ah it was just normal cycle stuff. The month I got pregnant, my left eye started to twitch from the day after ovulation (I was doing opks so knew the exact day I ovulated and this was 1dpo) and it continued to twitch for 22 days straight almost every couple of hours a constant eye twitch and flicker all day - drove me absolutely mad. But it was such a unique symptom that had never happened to me before. I literally never had a twitching eye before any periods or any month prior to that, hence I was googling it like mad wondering what it was. Google would say likely too much caffeine, but I was on decaf as we were trying, or lack of sleep or stress but I really wasn’t tired or stressed. Some of my googling did suggest pregnancy. When I got a bfp on a pregnancy test that month I put the eye twitching down to that and just thought what a funny weird symptom.

Fast forward a few years and we start trying again, and again the symptom spotting begins. 3 months of trying and every month pangs / pains / tiredness / cramps leave me wondering if I’m pregnant, but just turn out to be a period. Then one month I notice that 1dpo my eye is twitching. Suddenly it all comes back to me and I had completely forgotten that this was my first symptom the first time round. I keep noting it and it twitches every day for three weeks. I test positive on day 15 and this is that pregnancy.

I know everything online says that your body does not know it’s pregnant until your egg implants and begins to release hcg, but I am telling you this eye twitching has been 1day post ovulation and has only happened in my life on the two months that I am pregnant. So surely my eye twitching must be my body responding in some way to the new energy / internal stress of the egg having fertilised? How else would it be explained?

Would love to know your thoughts as so much out there suggests the body does not “know” it’s pregnant until implantation which is typically 8-9 days post ovulation. Whereas this weird symptom has been 1dpo each time 🤔

Anyone else get symptoms before implantation that they were sure were pregnancy / conception related and turned out to be?

Xx

I'm sure there is a logical explanation... but i have always thought just because humans can't test for pregnancy before implantation that doesn't mean our bodies don't know. Bodies are incredibly complex and intelligent, you'd think they would know if conception had occurred.

Before implantation with my current pregnancy I suddenly went SO sick for literally 2 hours! I thought I was coming down with a bug. It hit me at like 10pm and I was in the bathroom trying not to throw up but in the end I had no choice. I then went super weak and laid on the bathroom floor thinking it would hit again, but nope. I got in bed and by midnight it was totally gone and I was absolutely normal and fine the following morning. That happened around 1dpo and I remember wondering if it was the moment conception happened or just after? Who knows?! 🙈

There is no physiological pathway for an blastocyst that has yet to implant into your body to provoke any significant symptoms. It's just not possible.

People who say otherwise are just trying to marry coinciding effects. We never symptom spot when we aren't trying to conceive which is why we don't notice or acknowledge the everyday sensations we experience in each cycle. There is no shortage of people who have experienced all the symptoms and have not been pregnant and those who have experienced none, and have been pregnant.

This is just my view of course. I'm also pregnant with #2 and have a 20month old toddler.

Please do come back to this thread and tell us if you're pregnant!

My only symptom that I experienced prior to getting a bfp what slight cramping pain while orgasming. This got progressively worse in the coming weeks and I had to stop having orgasms at some point, but in the early days it was a very faint discomfort.

I agree with what @Outliers says - just because something happens to occur at the same time as conception does not mean it is related or caused by it. You just become hyper aware of every tiny twinge. I've found it fascinating as I've been TTC for a long time and each month (including the 2 where I've been pregnant but sadly gone on to miscarry) I've had tens of things that could be a "symptom" literally every. Single. Month.

With my first pregnancy I had vivid dream (nightmares) from 3dpo only ever have them when pregnant. With my second think it was from 6dpo can't remember x

Had miscarriages in between and also had vivid dream with those.
