Cd57 not pregnant but high LH a lot (pic) peri menopause?

Hi everyone, if I’m going to be honest with myself I think I’m maybe peri menopausal but desperately trying for a baby with my husband and have not prevented for 4 years in March.

I get a lot of high LH readings throughout the month and have tonight got a really dark one so am praying it’s a possible ovulation🤞🏻🙏 as I had some cramping this week like AF was coming but she’s still a no show and I’m now on CD57 last period was 11th November. I do skip periods now and then and have done over the last 2 years (I’m was just 43 last week) which is why I think it’s peri menopause sadly. I’m totally not ready for it, I don’t look or feel my age so am struggling with the thought of my ovaries closing down🥺 Picture attached and the last test is from this evening (cd57)

Is anybody in or been in a similar situation?

It looks like you peaked on the 4th / middle test.

Irregular periods and your age are consistent with perimenopause, but of course these are certainly not the only diagnostic factors. I'm assuming, given you've TTC/ not preventing for nearly 4 years, you've already had a fertility check in the past to confirm there are no issues preventing you or your husband from conceiving?

I thought this was a very poignant point. We live several years longer than our ancestors, but our bodies have not yet evolved to factor this into our fertility. I think society has sold a real myth of "never too old/ late" or "there's plenty of time', which isn't always case in fertility. It's no wonder birth rate is declining across the west. Apologies for the tangent.

Hi @Outliers and thank you for replying😊

Yes we’ve both had all the tests and both been discharged from the fertility gynae due to no known reason for not conceiving and as we can’t afford IVF there’s nothing they can do. Just said to take folic acid and vitamin d.

I have been fertile, I have 2 grown up children from a previous marriage so I definitely think it’s my age.

I find it so unfair that men can have children forever but we women have a clock that stops..and sometimes way before we’re ready for it..

*Bumping - If my photo is opened up fully you will see I had a dark opk on Saturday 6th Jan (its the last one at the bottom of the photo) and I got a lighter opk yesterday and felt quite a fair bit of cramping yesterday. Do you think I may have ovulated yesterday or might it be today? Of course that is IF I am going to release an egg x

Sigh, I just lost a huge long post, but in essence I was asking are you sure you're not pregnant with all those practically positive LH sticks?

I'm 41 and have found my LH levels have gone the other way - when TTC my 8 year old I'm sure I used to have a couple of days of rising OPKs before my peak, but in the nearly 2 years I've been TTC this time round my LH goes up and down in a matter of hours around ovulation. It's bizarre the way things change over time. And I got pregnant in March 2022 off the back of missing some pills over a few weeks, had an early miscarriage, but have had not a sniff of a positive since, bar a chemical in November....

Khanny · 08/01/2024 10:54

@curliegirlie No unfortunately not pregnant. I'm finding that my LH levels are quite strong almost every day regardless of what CD I am on and I read that that is a sign of declining oestrogen :(

I'm just praying that we can catch an egg, I can't have run out completely just yet.
I am having ovary aches today as well as yesterday which is when the opk was slightly lighter?!

Thanks you for replying and good luck to you on your own journey x

I think its so hard to know. Some women do surge for ages before ovulation occurs.
If you've had all prior blood tests done , they should be able tell you if your in peri

Khanny · 08/01/2024 16:51

@ChildOfTheMoon I spoke to the GP and fertility gynae following the blood test results and not one of them mentioned peri to me just said that all the results were normal given my age!

I'm totally overthinking now. Been having crampy feelings since yesterday in my lower uterus and felt a flutter feeling in my right ovary area this afternoon, just for a second but it was definitely a newer feeling. Probably flipping wind knowing my luck! x

I got another very dark opk today. Feel like I’m wasting my money with them as my lh is sooo out of whack with no consistency. CD60 today🥺🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi did you find out what was happening please?

Claireantony2021 · 06/06/2024 09:00

Hi did you get to the bottom of the cause of high lh and no period I am currently having this same situation now 😟

Khanny · 06/06/2024 11:40

Hi there, for me it is an age thing. The nearer I get to being peri menopausal the more LH I have had in my system and it shows on the ovulation sticks and the cycle length again is an age thing. I am skipping periods quite frequently now so it will be a miracle if I was to fall pregnant. I am trying to see if I ever ovulate by tracking my bbt overnight now but my temps are either really low or really erratic. Its hard to accept as I am nowhere near ready for this stage of my life and I have even gone for some private testing just to see what my AMH levels are, should be finding out on Monday. Hope you get some good news soon x
