Clearblue digital BFP, Clearblue normal BFN, Ebay cheapie BFN...driving myself crazy...

Should really think about something else and stop driving myself crazy but you know what its like.

CD29 today. Normal cycles are 27 or 28 days.

Went a bit mad and did a clearblue digital test on CD27 - BFP. Very exciting.

No AF yesterday or today (so far).

Just did a Clearblue normal - BFN - and a Clearblue digital - BFP. Also (for experimental purposes you understand) did an Ebay cheapie (supposed to be ultra early extra sensitive) - BFN.

Now I know the sensible (and only!) option is to wait and see and maybe test again in the morning or the day after. But in the meantime I'd be really grateful for your thoughts.

Has anyone had anything like this before? Really really want to believe the digital tests but can't help worrying about the two other types of tests that came back negative.

Could you have ovulated late in your cycle? May be that you're just not 'pregnant enough' to get a reading?

Have you recently come off the pill?

cluckyagain · 17/03/2008 17:27

Congratulations!!! The digital ones normally go BFP earlier (more sensitive I think)xxx

Thanks for the quick responses! I came off the pill at the beginning of January. Last time I came off the pill my cycle was 27/28 days straight away. This time again I had my withdawal bleed when I stopped the pill, my first proper period 28 days later. I'm now waiting for my second period.

I was pretty sure I ovulated CD11 or CD12 (cramps, loads of EWCM) and last bd'd CD13 so if I did ovulate any later than that this would have to be an immaculate conception!

PS thanks for Congatulations cluckyagain - I really hope they're warranted

LOL - I just remember trying to squint at the 'little blue line' as mine never changed, so I gave up and went digital instead....the advert for them now makes me laugh as I'm one of the twits who can't seem to read the line change ones!

Well you see when I was pregant with DD2 I got a reasonably strong positive on a normal Clearblue (blue cross) on CD29 and this time there is nothing.
In my neurotic pessimistic mind this obviously means the digi tests are wrong or more sensibly the pregnancy isn't as 'strong' this time and is likely to fail. Or of course it already has failed and the extra-sensitive digital test is picking up the leftover HCG.

You see what it is like in my head?

And of course the 'super early' Ebay test is also negative giving me more cause for concern. Surely if these tests pick up 10mg (as the packaging claims) they should be showing something if the digital one is?

Why can't I just relax and forget about it for a while???

congrats Hairytoe, sounds like it is a +ve! why not get a blood test to be absolutely sure?

HairyToe · 17/03/2008 17:53

I didn't know you could get blood tests on request. Do you just ask your GP?

I think its probably a bit early really and I just need to be patient.

didn't think it was possible to get a false positive, only false negatives..

Seems tentative congratulations may be in order.

HairyToe · 17/03/2008 18:05

Thanks liahgen. I assumed that but if you do a few searches here on MN (too much time on my hands) there are some circumstances where a positive can be misleading (early miscarriages).

On the positive side though I can probably assume I was at least fertilised therefore I'm ovulating okay after coming off the pill. Also it would seem to confirm that I did ovulate when i thought I did. SO if I do have to try agin next month I'm at least a bit more knowledgeable about my cycle!

How sensitive are Lloyds' tests? I'm two days late and have just got a negative from one of these, but it doesn't say how sensitive the test is anywhere on the box or leaflet...

Has anyone else used one of these early on with negative result, then got a positive later on?

Thanks

susiecat · 17/03/2008 20:06

Apols! New to this as you can tell!

HairyToe · 18/03/2008 13:31

Update. Very sad as I appear to have got AF today. Part of me still desperate to believe this is just early pregnancy bleeding but realistically I assume I was pregnant at some point (hence Clearblue digital result) but now am not.

Cautionary tale against early testing - I am now making a promise to myself to never test again till i'm a good week or so late.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

Oh love - I;m so sorry. I had a chem preg in January so I know just how you feel - it's so disappointing. xx

HairyToe · 19/03/2008 13:24

Thanks cluckyagain. Did my last clearblue digital (just to get rid of it really!) yesterday and it was negative. Af here with a vengeance now.
