Strange one. I gave birth nearly 9 weeks ago. Emergency Csection at 29 weeks. I ovulated 9/10 days ago according to clearblue opk's , but I just started bleeding which is my first period since the section. I'm worried now as my gluteal phase can't be 9 days for a future pregnancy surely. I'm really worried now.

Hi Ella. I recognise your username so just want to say I hope you’re doing ok.

In terms of your luteal phase during future cycles, it can take up to a year for your cycle to become more normal and regular. Changes can become permanent, but it’s too soon for today’s reading to be a sign of a permanent change. I would suggest that you keep an eye on it, but it’s too early for you to be worrying about it.

Thank you for the reply, I guess I'm just freaking now that it's a sign of infertility. Obviously I lost my two boys with this pregnancy but that was a rare occurance but I'm just wondering if other women postpartum had short luteal phases at first?

There’s nothing to suggest that this is a sign of infertility. My periods were all over the place after I had a c section. I wasn’t TTC so didn’t track my cycles, but they were unpredictable as to when they showed up and then once regular, my overall cycle was 5 days shorter than it used to be (used to have 35 day cycles, and then it went down to 29/30 days). It takes a while for it to regulate, so please try not to worry.

Sending love.

I have a nine day luteal phase and have been pregnant twice. So not sure if this is your cycles regulating or not but it’s still possible with a 9 day phase x
