Spotting 4 days before AF

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and knows why it's happening. I have super normal cycles 26-29 days and normally I will get cramps and backache the day before af then start the bleed the next day. However the last 3 months I have started to spot 2/3 days before AF starts and this month it's 4 days before my period is due that the spotting has started... I keep hoping it's implantation bleeding but it has ended in a full af the last 2 months. I'm currently undergoing some fertility testing and awaiting advice from my nurse but just wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar? ❤️

@thejollytrolleydolly hi, I’m not a doctor so don’t take my work as bible but it’s the drop in progesterone that cause our periods so it may be that you progesterone is a little low which is cause the spotting before your period. They can give you progesterone for this 🙂 Good luck with your fertility tests 🍀

Hello @4LeafCloverBaby I did wonder if it was something to do with progesterone but I had it tested last month and apparently it was fine 🤷🏽‍♀️ they only tested it a week after ovulation though and I've been getting this spotting between 10 and 12 dpo. I'll definitely ask the nurse about it when she gets back to me. Weird that it's only started a couple of months ago but it seems to happen every month now! My body does love to play tricks on me! Xx

Solved mine and got a bfp a few months later by taking high doses of b complex ....it is progesterone drop and bcomplex I think I bought b50 from H&B sorted. Good luck.

@thejollytrolleydolly can I ask is the spotting red or brown? I’m currently experiencing spotting for the first time ever before a period and wondering if it’s implantation or a strange early start to my period. Mine is definitely brown and period not due to end of the week.

@AnnieStar12 it's brown and only when I wipe or go number 2. It's normally spots up until my period but this time it has stopped. I had spotting 10dpo, 11dpo spotting and awful cramps and backache. 12dpo one bit when I wiped after the toilet and today 13dpo nothing! Period is meant to be due today or tomorrow so I will test tomorrow if there's still nothing xx

I had spotting a few days before my period and my doctor prescribed me progesterone to start taking from a certain point in my cycle each month. It stopped the spotting and I fell pregnant (accidentally!) with my daughter the next month.

Hey, I'm gonna join and follow this as I have spotting before AF every month too for around 2/3 days.

My last cycle I had late ovulation, and I spotted for 6 days prior to my period which was 5 days late!

Have a doctors apt next week to discuss xx

@Borracha I'll discuss this with my fertility nurse when I speak to her and see if that's an option. I have low quality eggs so low progesterone is just another thing to go against me! 😫 it's strange because it's literally only been the last 3 months that it's happened. X

@thejollytrolleydolly jumping in as I'm exactly the same. Can I ask your progesterone level number? I have a 11/12 day LP anyway but I start spotting on day 10 and then 2 month prior I started spotting on 8 and then 9DPO. Also had fertility tests which have come back normal & progesterone was normal too.

@Angelselevenx I'm not sure of my actual number as I'm yet to discuss my fertility as a whole with my nurse as I've just finished the tests and then Christmas delayed things a bit too. She said it looked normal on my day 21 test though. I'm just waiting on a call to discuss everything although she has already told me that my FSH levels are high for my age x

@Angelselevenx hopefully we get some answers from our tests! It will be nice to know that there's something that can be done 😊 x

@thejollytrolleydolly ooh okay, what can be done to bring down FSH?

My AMH is high at 47.52 (I'm 29) which is positive and my OH has had his SA done which is all normal. We hit a year TTC next month and an early miscarriage on cycle 2. How long have you been TTC? X

@Angelselevenx I don't think there's anything you can do to bring down FSH I think it naturally gets higher as you get older and I'm 38! I have one daughter who took 3 years to conceive and we have been trying since last January for number 2 with a MMC thrown in last year too.

It's tough when you get to the 1 year mark isn't it? You're doing everything you're meant to and it sounds like everything is ok with you both so fingers crossed it happens for you soon! 🤞🏽❤️

Yeah, I naively never thought I'd get to the year point but here we are. That's what makes it confusing, everything seems okay but nothing is happening. The early MC threw me as well as I felt so lucky as it happened so quickly on cycle two but nothing since.

When do you have your next appointment with the fertility doctor? Xx

hello! I thought I would just comment to say I’ve been having the exact same thing. I had an early loss in august, and then for the last 3 cycles have had bleeding for 5-7 days before my period 🤯
Last cycle it started with full flow/red bleeding for about 5 hours and then went back to spotting for another 5 days before AF arrived.
It’s so confusing! Never had any spotting before prior to the loss. Would love to hear what people get told by their doctors and compare notes! I’m seeing my doctor on Monday 9th so will update x
