TTC at 40

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year.
Would be great to hear from anyone else who is TTC at 40 (I'll be 41 in the summer). This will be baby no2; we had a bit of rocky time getting pregnant with our first squish; I had a miscarriage and then a chemical.
We are both pretty fit; and making a conscious effort to loose any unwanted pounds to make sure we are in the best possible shape to try again. In terms of vitamins, we both used the female/male pregnecare supplements last time and had no issues with them; due to my age (and husbands; he's 42) would anyone recommend the more pricy ones (proceive is one that keeps cropping up). Thanks in advance; and good luck to anyone TTC, it can be so draining so I'm sending you love.

It's so cruel when you still have symptoms..I did too for a while.it was easier when they stopped

Yeah it is cruel. I have a scan tomorrow just to make sure all has passed I guess.

Hi - I'll join too. I'm 41, had my daughter at 37 and began trying again when she was 2. Naively thought it would be easy as I got pregnant so quickly the first time. I had a couple of early miscarriages and chemicals, then an ectopic at 12 weeks in June last year (very late for an ectopic). So now I'm over 40 and down one fallopian tube, and honestly feeling like it's not going to happen. I'm very lucky for what I already do have, but it's going to be extremely difficult to give up on this, if that's what we have to do.

Also very sorry to hear of everyone's losses, it's very difficult I know 😞

on the other side I downloaded it starts with an egg and have ordered Proceive supplements which are recommended for over 40 I fell very quickly a month after coming off the pill so holding on to that just need one to stick xx

@Rosyposy26 I did the same read that and started taking proceive max 🤞 hopefully tomorrow goes ok x

@Rosyposy26 sorry to hear. I had my 3rd loss at the start of Jan, and it is so difficult. I've had a positive again in the last couple of days, which I'm thrilled about, but am naturally very nervous at the same time.

Thank you. Did you start trying as soon as bleeding stopped? I want to I don’t want to wait for a proper period. Just need one to stick don’t we. I’ve had 2 children but 20 and 17 years ago so been a while. Hope this one sticks for you.

@Rosyposy26 thank you. I started using my clear blue digital ovulation tests 5/6 days after the bleeding stopped. I ovulated later than I normally do and I had 'high' results longer than normal before getting peak. Started trying once we got the high result - every few days.
So far so good ... but time will tell x

I'm 8dpo haven't been going too insane as I was sick with some virus the last few days but now I'm feeling better and starting to symptom spot again

@Gracie1825 hey I'm with you, I was due Thursday and still no sign of AF will test Monday. 😬😬😬been symptom spotting , but to be fair not much out of the ordinary apart from really bloated 😬had a chemical last month so trying to by pass that stage.

Oh that's very promising for you 🤞makes total sense, I started testing far too early last month and drove myself crazy, so trying to wait at least a few more days before I do.

I’m now trying again after miscarriage. Bleeding stopped by Sunday negative test by Wednesday. Body seems ok and tracking symptoms. fingers crossed for us all. x

@Rosyposy26 sorry to hear this. It’s definitely an uphill struggle. So the plot thickens for me. 4 days late (apparently …. According to when I think I ovulated due to lh sticks) wasn’t going to test till tomorrow but did. 🤦‍♀️after several cups of tea and a coffee . I thought if it was to be positive it would show anyway. Cheap home bargains early test. BFN. So silly looked back after an hour and a shadow of a line, which is most probably an evap. I think I’m done if I’m honest now. My little girl turns 9 on Wednesday and trying for the last 6 months for another I didn’t know I wanted until I got a surprise that didn’t happen and I think I need to be grateful for what I’ve got. This ttc is taking over my life 😬🙈god knows what’s happening with my period as it’s never been this late. If any other updates I will def update but I think late positives are few and far between. Although for my whole like I never had pms or period symptoms , my husband even said you never moan about your period. So would this affect pregnancy hormones? I have no idea. With my first I was 10 yrs younger and just expected to get pregnant, getting pregnant without trying with the MC it was a shock so now it’s even more of a shock that after going at it like bunnies (tmi) for the last 6 months not being pregnant 🙈🙈🤪any advice appreciated ❤️

@Hollycharlie so sorry for you. It’s hard isn’t it. I’ve bought some ovulation strips I can’t tell the different colours. Maybe test again in a few days. I’m going to test until March I’m not expecting to fall this month. I feel very sceptical but trying everything xx

@Hollycharlie sorry to hear . Maybe you ovulated later and/or urine too diluted? Maybe try again with FMU.

@Rosyposy26 I've only used OPKs since my MMC in December..first cycle I still had HCG so they were useless. This one I used clearblue and easy@home and my LH peak seems to be low enough only it matched the clearblue one I would have been unsure..I'm.not sure if thats my normal or if my body is still settling down post MC 🤔

@Gracie1825 mine just seemed to have two dark lines. This month I’m just going to see what happens and look to do it next month if needed.

Hi everyone! How are you all doing?
No real news here; still no positive line.....currently in the dreaded 2 week wait. Feeling a bit meh about everything as still no positive; had my bloods done privately in June, and all was ok, so hoping that it will happen soon. Poss TMI but is anyone else finding TTC sex about as romantic as a soggy sock?! 😂I think last month was our best one as we both got conjunctivitis from our daughter so that was romantic 😅Thankfully we are communicating really well, and we can have a giggle about how it feels. Sending lots of love and sticky vibes to everyone xx
