Ovulation stick and Premom saying low when high?

Hey everyone 👋

My partner and I have started our TTC journey. I’ve decided to use ovulation sticks for a couple of months to check if the ovulation date in the Flo app is accurate as that’s what we’ll be relying on.

It’s my first time using the sticks and I wanted to check I’ve been reading them right. My question is - what do the numbers on the right hand side mean (0.1, 0.61)? It also gave me the option to edit them but I have no idea what I’d edit them to. Does anyone else edit them?

Also the app reading says “low” (assuming that means chance of ovulation) but the lines on two days look pretty solid to me. Why does that not say “high”? I know I ovulated on one of those two days as I had all the usual symptoms.

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone else on their journeys 🥰

I use this app, and really like it. It only says high when it reaches 0.8 or higher. It is only considered high when the control line is getting darker than the test line, and ideally you want to see it eventually go darker so you know you’ve peaked.

I believe the numbers are the ratio between the lines, but that’s just my guess as I’ve often wondered myself.

Once you’ve tracked for a few cycles you’ll learn what your normal ranges are. Everyone is different so it allows you to edit if you know when your peak is for example.

My peaks would always be over 1 climbing to close to 2 and baseline very low - anything between 0.08 - 0.2

Hope that’s helpful, happy to answer any other questions as been using this same app since April. It’s definitely helped me - have got pregnant twice but sadly both ended in miscarriages.

This might just be my personal experience but I didn’t like using Premom for this exact reason - I found with the opk strips my second line would be as dark or darker than the control line, but when I put it in the Premom app it would say it wasn’t positive / high or less than 1. I could confirm ovulation in other ways and so I decided if I was going to use the OPKs I would just judge by eyesight because I think it’s hard to take a good photo and lighting can affect it massively. I get the app is useful for tracking / comparing OPK tests day to day though?

Thanks @AnnieStar12 that makes sense. I might try testing more often next month and hopefully I’ll start to see some patterns soon. Sorry about your miscarriages ❤️

@hopingforapeainapod totally agree, I might just go by eye after a few goes on the app. That’s a great idea. I find all the charts and numbers on premom confusing. I really just want to make sure I’m roughly getting the right days

You can still label it as your peak yourself on the app.

I never had an official “high” on Premom but had no problem getting pregnant. Some women just have lower levels, or you might have just missed catching it with the test by a few hours.

I still found the graph useful at showing when I ovulated, even though the app didn’t think it was high.

I have recently come off the pill and trying track where i am at after 10 years plus on mini pill… only dsy 5 of testing and got a slight increase. Does this mean i could be heading towards ovulation?
