Bleeding 5 days before period due??

Been TTC for last couple months and diligently tracking ovulation etc so I know when my period is due. 2 days ago started spotting, that's 5 days earlier than I expected anything and now am having what seems like a light watered-down period. I had already taken an early pregnancy test and it was negative. I have also had flu over Christmas and been coughing a lot ... surely that's not enough to bring on bleeding? Is it? I'm worried there is something else going on. With my last 2 pregnancies I never experienced any implantation bleeding. Just wondering if anyone has similar experiences or other ideas about this...is there anything else I should be worried about? TIA

Are your periods always like clockwork? Could this just be an early period?

Yep, very like clockwork and I've been taking ovulation tests, tracking my cycles for the last several months...never any disrupted cycle like this before...

So if it was period I'd be worried as to why it was so early...it's only 8 DPO. My period has never come sooner that 13 DPO

I get this it seems every months ttc. Spotting about 8-2 days before period starts. Don't have much answers why. Doctors says it's normal. Plenty women on here say they still conceived with the spotting issue.

My period is always like clockwork.

Before I started TTC, my period came a whole week early - which never happens. I was very confused, concerned but also elated as it meant I could start trying earlier. However I can imagine had I been trying already, perhaps I'd be more alarmed.

Human body is not a perfect machine that runs on a precise schedule. Even if it's usually like clockwork, at some point we will all experience an irregularity.
