Period return after stopping mini pill

When did your period return after stopping the mini pill? I came off desogestrel 38 days ago & still no bleeding.

Hi EmTTC2, I came off desogestrel a few months ago after not having any periods while on it for 3 years. I had a withdrawal bleed after a week or so - it was brown and light, but lasted about 6 days. I also had some wallpaper paste like discharge which I think was the extra mucus that the pill makes to stop sperm entering the womb, coming out (sorry if tmi!) I had a proper period 23 days after the start of the withdrawal bleed, and all my pms symptoms have returned, with bells on... I'm likely having another period in a few days, making my cycle 24 days.
Hope your periods come back OK x

Thanks for replying 🙂 that's great that your period came back so quickly. I had my wee boy 6 years ago. Before I had him, I was on microgynon & my period returned as normal within 4 weeks. I guess I'm just stressing incase it doesn't come back. Sorry that your pms symptoms have also returned! x

Mine hadn’t come back after 5 weeks… I got a positive pregnancy test instead.

That's amazing! I've done a test just about every day. All bfn unfortunately 😕

It took 56 days for mine to return, with no withdrawal bleeding during that time. They were really light when they did come back too. I fell pregnant 3 months after my period returned, without actively trying, but this sadly ended in a MMC.

So sorry for your loss. This gives me hope that I'm not abnormal & it will return 🤞

Are you still testing? I have to say I was like @ElevenSeven and got a positive pregnancy test instead but I was young and obviously very fertile.

I'd say there's no normal. 3 months would be the point where I'd be talking to a doctor.

Yes. I tested again today - bfn. I am definitely not pregnant. I do ovulation tests & BBT test every day. No ovulation yet either. Just itching to get my period back so that I can properly TTC. I've tried taking vitex for the last 2 weeks to try & bring a period on - no change.

Interesting re no ovulation but expected and 100% in the realms of normality.

I'll give it until the 3 month point & will speak to the doctor if it still hasn't returned. Just frustrating

Understand that completely and I would be feeling the same. I wonder if your body is also playing you a little... a watched kettle never boils and that.

Who knows. I'm doing everything I can in the meantime. I take proceive max, coQ10 600mg, vitex, vitamin D 4000IU, omega 3 & extra folic acid every day. If nothing else, at least my body is getting prepared if my period ever does return. I've never ever had any problems with it. Always had a regular 28 day cycle before desogestrel

I'd be happy for it to just show up. Beginning to think I'll never have another period again! I'm 36, so being a bit overdramatic 🤣

Thank you for this. 40 days since stoping and no sign of anything, including ovulation yet but guessing just need to be patient. Hoping to start ttc when it does. Took pregnacare for a month but stopped that just in case as some reports of it messing with cyclea. Want to start ttc soon and nearly 36 so feel a bit of a ticking clock!
