Hi all,

DH and I are considering TTC for the first time in the New Year, but I am becoming increasingly worried about how my life will have to adapt and how we will manage with childcare. Current situation as follows:

I work full-time as a teacher working 50 hours a week (aim to keep weekends free). I am out of the house from 7.30am-6pm. I appreciate I have huge holidays.

DH full-time employed. Out of the house 7am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 7am-1pm on Saturdays.

Limited possibility of childcare from grandparents as they all work full-time and will be doing so for the forseeable future.

Currently, I don’t want to give up working full-time if possible as I love my job. No possibility of DH working reduced hours.

I love to do exercise in my free-time, and also wouldn’t want to massively reduce this for the physical and mental health benefits.

I suppose I’m just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation, and how you coped with it? I don’t want to end-up as a SAHM burdened with the majority of the housework and with no independence of my own.

Thanks in advance.
