Help me understand conception stats?

Do conception stats include miscarriage?

I’m sure we’ve all heard 30% will be pregnant within a month, 60% within 3 months, 85% within a year, etc. does this include miscarriage, though?

say, you get pregnant Month 3 and sadly miscarry. You get pregnant again month 12 and have a baby. Did it take you 3 months and then 9 months, or 12 months?

given MC is so, so common, I’m unsure how to read the statistics and translate them into what to expect.

thank you everyone.

@Pupsandturtles I think you may be relying slightly too heavily on the stats 😕 They are just an average stat based on huge numbers. With your example I don’t think it would work as once you have a mc you are usually very fertile. There are a lot of variables that go into these situations. If you feel you need to manage expectations then maybe go for the 12 months expectation & then anything less will be a positive thing for you?

I've always treated it that it re sets, so each pregnancy takes xx amount of time on average (and a loss just counts as a pregnancy under the statistics).

The thing about being more fertile unfortunately isn't scientifically proven, and it can be a really harmful thing to say as it makes people really hopeful then it's so much more painful when it doesn't happen (speaking from personal experience). Try to just take each month as it comes, especially after loss x

Time taken to conceive and fall pregnant

I can see why statistics could be confusing. Would even a pregnancy which only lasted a few days be counted. I suppose those very early positive tests could affect those statistics. I agree with assuming it could take 12 months rather than hoping it happens in the first month of trying.
