IVF postcode lottery petition!

Hi All,

Hope this post is allowed.

I have come across this petition online this morning.

I have never understood how IVF funding can be put down to the area you live in. I am entirely grateful for the fact I am entitled to 1 round of funded IVF in my area but can't help but feel it is also a little unfair how someone who lives 30 minute down the the road can be entitled to 3 rounds. IVF can be very much trial and error so putting all your hopes on it working on the first round can add more stress to an already stressful situation.

I hope this reaches some people who can spare 30 seconds to sign this petition and hopefully spread awareness

thank you all x

Petition: Fund three rounds of IVF for all couples - end the postcode lottery

Every individual and couple who require IVF should have equal access to this vital medical procedure, regardless of their geographical location. We want the Government to fund three rounds of IVF for all couples, to ensure equal access to IVF.

I’ve signed. Amazed it hasn’t gotten more signatures though? I’ve sent to friends and family but wondering how best to promote it/get more traction?

I think it is far too simplistic to say every couple should get 3 cycles.

What about couples with several children already? Or a couple in their 50s? Couples where a previous child was taken in to care and any second child will be taken at birth?

It would also cause a postcode lottery for other NHS treatment. An area with a lot of young couples is going to have to take funding from somewhere else.

@sashh this is for people who have no other option but to have IVF, the NHS has guidelines to who is entitled to funding, even though I feel some of the guidelines are too strict, not just people who fancy trying IVF.

I don't think it's fair how someone who lives less than 20 miles away from me can have access to 3 rounds of IVF when I am only entitled to 1? Do them people in another area have more of a right to start a family than I do?
