Positive test but red bleed?

Hello,

I finally got my first ever BFP last Monday. I was spotting in the lead up to it so assumed my period was coming (I always spot in lead up to period) but was so happy to finally see a positive result!

However, my spotting has continued and since this morning, it has become bright red in colour (still very light though). I am still testing positive on tests and am experiencing symptoms like dull cramps and tiredness. I am also taking progesterone supplements (rectally, so can't explain the spotting either).

The out of hours doctor didn't seem concerned but said to contact GP on Monday if it gets heavier. Has anyone else experienced unexplained spotting in early pregnancy? It's been ongoing for over a week so I don't think it can be explained by implantation bleeding (especially now that's it's red).

Just looking for some reassurance I think!

You could be having a period (or mutely possible when pregnant) or a chemical. Only time will tell (if tests get faint or turn negative).

As PP said only time will tell. I had spotting throughout 3rd trimester with my daughter but all was fine. However when I had an ectopic I had a normal period, and I also had a chemical where I had two positives then 30 mins after the second positive started bleeding heavily at just 9dpo. Next morning still a darker test. A week later BFN.

How dark are the BFP tests? Could be cervical changes too.

The tests are very dark and the digital is also now 3+ weeks. The doctor I spoke to didn't seem concerned as it's light (only when I wipe) and there are no clots, saying "lots of people experience unexplained bleeding throughout early pregnancy". Not the most reassuring answer when you don't know what the cause of "unexplained" is!
