Hi guys,

So me and my husband are trying for a baby and I have been tracking my ovulation using the clear blue advance ovulation sticks. For the last three days I have had the flashing smiley face suggesting high fertility but this morning when I tested it had the empty circle suggesting I am past ovulation. We have dtd twice during the high fertility window. Do you think there is still a chance of getting pregnant or have I missed it this cycle?

I appreciate any advice xxx

There is a chance :)

TTC1990 · 11/03/2024 13:12

@Alexg1993 I know this is old but this happened to me this month. I’m on day 6 of flashing smiley and now CD19. My cycles are 28-30 days so unlikely ovulation is coming, so I’ve either missed it or didn’t get pregnant.

just wondered if you ended up falling pregnant that cycle you mentioned above?

Alexg1993 · 11/03/2024 14:59

Hi,

Unfortunatley, I didn't get pregnant that cycle and we are still trying. I don't know how much I trust those ovulation sticks because they didn't pick up my lh levels this cycle either but I know I ovulated yesterday/today.

I hope everything goes well for you x

Hey
I haven't tried the Clearblue tests but I can recommend the Easy at home tests, they are cheap and I think a bit easier to work with. I started them at 10 DPO, trying to hold my urine for a few hours after going as I left work at 5pm. Then once you start to see the line darkening (rising), test in the morning too.

These cheap tests work well with the free premom app, you take a pic of the test and it reads it for you and plots it on a graph.

@Alexg1993 thank you for getting back to me! Sorry to hear you are still trying. Got everything crossed for you!

@MrsScotland ive heard about this app! I thought it cost though. Can you get it for free? Does it work the same without upgrading and paying? X

Hi

Yes, free version works just fine! Have you tried temping yet? I added that in and found it really helpful. It only tells you when ovulation has occured (usually your temp rises the following morning), so by that point it's a bit late, but it's really helpful to know that ovulation has occured, and it helps build up a bit of a picture of your cycle over a few months. It is also a good indicator if you have fallen pregnant, as your temp goes up and stays up after ovulation, and drops back down as your period arrives.

Oh that’s good to hear, I will download it!

I’ve just ordered an Apple Watch today and that will track my temperature! I used Natural cycles with my first and I conceived straight away, but I keep forgetting to take it this time round so thought the watch would be more usual.

Is there a chance ovulation occurred and I’ve missed it this month?! I have regular cycles so I don’t know if no ovulating is rare…just holding on to hope for this month as we DTD regularly over the fertile window (predicted by Flo based on my previous cycles)

MrsScotland · 11/03/2024 16:21

There might be! I actually had a failed ovulation this month, got a LH peak on CD 13, presumed I'd ovulated on CD 14 but by temp didn't go up the day after. On CD16 I had EWCM and I had the ovulation pains again, and then on CD17 my temp rose. We only DTD days 12,13 and 14 so I was shocked to get a BFP at 10 DPO! Just shows the importance of doing it an advance of ovulation so its em, up there and ready and waiting!

@TTC1990 thank you. I hope this is the year x

@MrsScotland oh that’s amazing - congratulations! Good to know there is some hope!

@Alexg1993 keep us updated! Love hearing updates from everyone x

Sodabubbles · 11/03/2024 17:26

@TTC1990 can an Apple Watch track bbt?!? Or do you just mean normal temp

Sodabubbles · 11/03/2024 17:58

I clearly live under a rock, just googled and yes it can apparently track it accurately, how handy this has just saved me buying a seperate bbt thermometer thanks!! 😅

TTC1990 · 11/03/2024 19:03

@Sodabubbles I didn’t know either until natural cycles gave me the option of tracking through an Apple Watch! It even has an ovulation tracker option (well I know the series 9 does) so hoping it makes life easier as I’m getting a headache with these ovulation tests!

Sodabubbles · 11/03/2024 20:24

ah ok!! Maybe not totally common knowledge then 😂 I hardly use mine I don’t even know what it is… possibly an series 8, will charge it up and see tonight and start tracking temp! Im not even fully into a first ttc cycle, only came off the pill last week so I think whatever I track for the next month or two will be all over the place anyway 😅 have you been ttc long ?

Ive checked and a series 8 can do it too 😊. Best of luck with TTC! I fell almost straight away with my first (now 16 months). I was previously on the pill too, it didn’t take that long for my cycles to regulate so hope it’s the same for you.

I’ve been TTC for 4 months now and feeling quite frustrated tbh. Hoping it’ll happen soon!

Sodabubbles · 11/03/2024 21:38

Thank you I hope so too! I wasn’t on the pill before ; and Concieved dc2 when still breastfeeding dc1 but they are teenagers now so it’s been such a long time as well, just don’t know I guess.

ah bless you I hope it happens soon for you, can see after 4 months it might start feeling like a lifetime.

yay for series 8 I’ve got it charging just now 😂

TTC1990 · 11/03/2024 21:53

That’s good to hear you were able to conceive and it didn’t take too long!

I’m trying to stay positive that this cycle could still be it despite not finding my peak…just got to keep that hope alive!

Woo for the series 8!! Best of luck and keep us posted! I love hearing peoples updates despite them being strangers on the internet 😂 xx

Sodabubbles · 11/03/2024 22:07

I do too haha! Good luck and I really hope I see your name on bfp thread soon xx
