15dpo bfn..

Just hoping for some advice, support or experiences and stories..

my partner and I are on month 23 of ttc. We’ve had tests at a private clinic which came back as “unexplained”. I just don’t understand.. how can there be no problem yet we aren’t getting pregnant?? Any suggestions? Or is it that there is a problem it just hasn’t been figured out?

this month we’ve used letrizole.. went for a scan to see if it was effective and there were three follicles mature enough to be released and they said my lining measured as healthy. I had a trigger injection too for ovulation.
we both take preconception supplements and used a fertilily cup during the fertile window.

today is 15dpo and I got a negative test this morning.. I’m gutted, confused, frustrated and all the rest!

AF is due on Friday so I know the test was slightly early, but ovulation was 15 days ago so I would expect hcg to be high enough for a positive by now. The only thing giving me hope is that 11dpo I got what I’m pretty sure was implantation bleeding.

anyway.. sorry for the long post. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, I'm sorry I have no help for you, but wanted to jump in and say I'm also 15DPO AF was due Sunday, but no sign of her yet besides some light spotting on the weekend, so I'm late, also have negative tests. You aren't alone. So I've heard you're not out until AF arrives. Xx

curliegirlie · 05/12/2023 19:22

Sorry for your BFN, but don't understand how AF isn't due for another 3 days if you're 14dpo?!

curliegirlie · 05/12/2023 19:22

Or 15dpo even!

gem71 · 05/12/2023 19:27

Sorry to hear about your BFN! I'm 11dpo with a BFN, 2 days late on AF... I think I'm out this month but have seen lots online about getting a BFP really late after ovulation, including well after 15dpo! Try not to lose hope ❤️

Just looking for some fellow women who know what it's like to see that bloody negative result after wanting a positive so badly!

Nutellaandacuppa · 05/12/2023 19:37

Thank you @Nic17 got my fingers crossed for you!! Great news AF hasn’t shown up yet!

@curliegirlie I had the trigger injection on day 11 of my cycle.. and my cycle is 28 days. The clinic said to test on the 6th as they’d expect an accurate result on 16dpo. Feels weird to me too.. the 2WW has become even longer for me since letrizole because I seem to ovulate a few days earlier

Nutellaandacuppa · 05/12/2023 19:48

@gem71 thanks for your reply.. I definitely know that feeling! I try not to test too much for that reason..
Good news AF isn’t here! I’ve heard of late BFPs too so fingers crossed!!

@gem71 we're with you! So tough x

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/12/2023 20:03

@Nutellaandacuppa have you ever had your tubes flushed?

Nutellaandacuppa · 05/12/2023 20:05

@FlyOnTheWall89 yes had a hycosy around April time!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/12/2023 20:11

@Nutellaandacuppa I'm sorry, that's so shit. I only ask as I really believe it helped us conceive after 15 months.

It's a long time to be emotionally baring the weight of trying to conceive. Look after yourselves, it is a tough road. If I were you, i would love to IVF now and see if you have success with that sort of intervention. Best of luck.

Nutellaandacuppa · 05/12/2023 20:18

@FlyOnTheWall89 thank you so much for your advice..
we will try IVF soon, my partner has been ready for that for a while now, it has been me that wanted to keep trying (mostly because I just can’t see why it wouldn’t work the traditional way!!)

thank you for you kind message.. it has been a tough time! We actually got pregnant soon after the hycosy too (also first month of letrizole) but unfortunately it didn’t work out.. so I think you’re right, the hycosy tests help!!

I hope your pregnancy worked out for you..

@Nutellaandacuppa I've just put my 9 month old baby girlie to bed. I am so so thankful for her everyday and believe we were super lucky. We had MFI, although not that bad... but I do think it was the hycosy that helped. I know it's a head fuck and I think my husband felt the same re trying again and again vs IVF but at least begin moving forward with that and you can continue trying in the meantime. Then you have a roadmap in place and mentally it might take the edge off... it did for me and I was unknowingly pregnant at my last nurse appt pre baseline scan to begin IVF. Wishing you all the bed, it really is so so hard x

Nutellaandacuppa · 05/12/2023 20:41

Ah @FlyOnTheWall89 that is amazing.. it’s lovely to hear that!
we will definitely start on that road.. I’ve got an nhs appointment eventually (over a year after my first GP appointment!) in January so maybe we will use that as the start point for IVF rather than the private clinic.
but thank you, I appreciate you’re advice and the understanding that it is really mentally tough xx

@Nutellaandacuppa and a last top tip, if going NHS, call up for cancellation appointments. You can skip MONTHS of queuing. Pls post on the thread with your future news x

Nutellaandacuppa · 06/12/2023 05:15

@FlyOnTheWall89 thanks for the advice!! I will do x

@Nic17 @gem71 How are you both getting on?

have either of you looked into IUI and if it’s worth a try before IVF? My doctor wasn’t very pro trying that but then again his advice was to keep trying naturally and go for IVF if we were “in a rush” so didn’t recommend letrizole either xx

@Nutellaandacuppa thank you for asking! 🌷 Still nothing... sometimes I wish AF which just come so I know for definite that I'm not pregnant, but don't want to wish AF's arrival lol. I'm 3 days late for AF with BFN but the last 3 cycles have been extremely irregular. Using Flo atm to track my cycle but I'm dubious as to whether it's correct because I've been watching my CM and has fertile signs last week! It's all quite confusing.

I'm only 3 months into TTC and my heart goes to anyone who has experienced any sort of pain or difficulty on their journey 💛 GP referred me for an ultrasound of my uterus a couple weeks ago as he suspected PCOS (related to other symptoms) but scan came back really positive. So now it's just a case of trying my best with ovulation tracking / prenatal vitamins / healthy lifestyle. TTC has been a really unique experience, there's nothing like it! I have wanted this since I can remember and to grow up and realise it isn't as simple as just going at it with your partner is such a strange shock 😂

Hope you're well x

Nutellaandacuppa · 06/12/2023 16:52

@gem71 I know how you feel! It’s such a rollercoaster…
maybe if you ovulated just last week your hcg levels won’t have increased enough for the test to detect them yet?
Amazing that your scan results were good!

I don’t use any apps to track my cycle.. just
ovulation tests. I know alot of people use the apps, but I’ve gotten so used to this way I’m too nervous to change incase I miss the window.. I can’t wait for a time when I’m not weeing on sticks on a regular 😂

one million percent with you on the shock of it not happening first time! All those years being careful and sensible to find it actually wasn’t necessary 🤦🏻‍♀️ I remember our first month of trying winding up my other half by not lifting a finger for two weeks because “I couldn’t possibly in my condition”.. luckily I haven’t kept that up for two years!!

Starlight11111 · 06/12/2023 23:55

@Nutellaandacuppa thank you for asking! My AF arrived today. After being like clockwork for as long as I can remember I have no idea why I was late this month. Very glad it's here now though to put me out of my testing misery.

I'm only a few months into TTC, so haven't explored any options yet. I have however already had a miscarriage and a chemical so one more loss and my GP says they will refer me to recurrent miscarriage clinic.

@gem71 I really hope you get some answers soon about this cycle! It's so difficult not knowing what's going on.

Xxxx

gem71 · 07/12/2023 06:32

@Nic17 thank you so much lovely. I've not long used these forums but lurked for a very long time and it makes a real difference talking to people going through similar situations!

Still no AF, took a cheap test last night and had a serious case of line eyes. Now I'm super disheartened - not at the BFN but the fact I am clutching at the faintest of marks for a positive result. I will hold off testing now and just see what happens.

Nutellaandacuppa · 07/12/2023 07:41

@Nic17 im sorry you’ve had such a hard time.. hope you’ve had lots of support..

a friend of mine had three losses last year and got pregnant whilst waiting for her appointment at the clinic.. she’s now about 6 months pregnant! It doesn’t stop it being tough and really unfair, but there is hope..

@gem71 AF can be so cruel!

OP posts:
Starlight11111 · 07/12/2023 22:06

@gem71 clutching at the faintest of lines is SO normal, don't ever think it's not. It's our minds way of trying to give us what we're longing for - and will get one day soon 🤞🏻 I also lurked on MN for a while before posting and wow it's so lovely actually messaging on here when it can feel so lonely.

@Nutellaandacuppa you are so right, tough and unfair for sure, but every new cycle brings fresh hope. I tried taking baby aspirin this cycle but typically this was the one where I didn't manage to fall pregnant. I've got a wonderful support network around me which I'm so grateful for. Xx

Starlight11111 · 07/12/2023 22:08

@Nutellaandacuppa I also just wanted to say, a friend close to me tried for over two years, no reason for infertility. She finally fell pregnant straight after a life event for her. Life has its own timing for us sometimes and it's incredibly hard to trust it but again, there's so much hope ❤️

Nutellaandacuppa · 08/12/2023 16:46

@Nic17 thank you! It’s so hard to be patient and trust that it will happen in the end when you’re in it yourself, but the positive stories massively help!! And you’re totally right about each new cycle bringing hope!

it’s such a rollercoaster!
