Can progesterone being too high make it difficult to conceive?

Got my blood results for "Day 21" progesterone to confirm ovulation but I was actually out of the country on CD21 so had to do it early - CD18. Didn't think it'd be too much of a problem because my cycles are short-ish, 26/27 days so CD18 would be close enough to 7 days after ovulation (more like 5-6).

But my results seem to be very high: 87nmol/L whereas the normal range for luteral phase seems to be up to 60nmol/L.

Can progesterone being too high make it difficult to conceive? Got scanned very recently so unlikely to be ovarian cysts or cancel as Dr Google suggests.

Progesterone is a pro-gestatational hormone - so unlikely to compromise conception, if anything, probably helps.

I'm not very knowledgeable on this so happy to be corrected but don't some contraceptives contain progesterone? So is it possible that ovulation is prevented by my progesterone being too high?

I was told anything over 30 means you've ovulated. Mine was 59 I think.
Nothing to worry about. Think you are over thinking it maybe? Especially if you have regular cycles xx

I wouldn't think so. Progesterone helps implantation and supporting a pregnancy. I just had ivf and was put on Progesterone twice a day from egg retrieval until few weeks after transfer and im currently pregnant. Had my progesterone checked and it was 311 so It certainly didn't do any harm

@wishingtobepreg a day 21 test will only tell you what your post ovulation result is - you'd need to have a blood test early in your cycle to tell you your base level. It's highly unlikely that it would prevent ovulation - as part of the combined pill it makes your level high all cycle to trick your body, hence you need to know what your natural early cycle level is.

This was it on day 2 of my cycle... but also seems higher than the upper threshold for "follicular phase"

It is higher but doesn't seem significantly higher - if your healthcare provider was worried they would say something. Hormones are so awkward because all the numbers are just a guide and they vary from person to person so much (even if everything is totally fine).

Hi there, I have similar results for my progesterone. For both during the follicular phase and for my day 21 test. Has freaked me out somewhat, can I ask if you've managed to get pregnant?
