DPO, irregular periods and pregnancy testing

Hi there,

I am currently 17DPO, last period was 2/11/23, my cycle length can vary. Last month it was 44 days, some months it can be 30-40 it's all over the place.

I track my ovulation and got a solid smiley on 16th November and we have sex for three days in a row. Which would make me 17DPO.

Because my periods are so irregular it's hard to tell if my period is late or not (current cycle day 33). I have taken pregnancy tests and they have all come back negative. Am I out for this month? Or could I be testing too early?

My period tracker app Flo says I shouldn't test until 10th December, however I did use an ultra early. Can someone shed some light on my situation?
I don't know if I'm holding onto hope as 17DPO seems very late to test negative if pregnant, although if I haven't yet missed my period and it's still quite far out, it might be too early to test still?

Well assuming you calculated ovulation correctly (many get it wrong) then at 17 DPO you would expect a strong positive line, regardless of when your period is due.

Well I do the clearblue advanced ovulation test and on the first day of my solid smiley (16th Nov) we tried for the following three days: 16th, 17th and 18th. Also the day leading up to ovulation on the 12th November.
I do usually get EWCM every month when I ovulate but it was very little to none around the time clearblue said I ovulated which I found strange..

Around 24th November I had EWCM but negative ovulation tests (I actually stopped testing on the 20th December as said it was negative). We had sex on the 25th November.

So did I ovulate when the test told me I would? I also know that even when tracking the ovulation, the solid smiley on the 16th Nov doesn't indicate ovulation happened that day, so maybe I am a few days out even...

It's so hard to tell and I am so disheartened and frustrated with it all.. I just want to know either way 😭

I don’t have an answer but just wanted to say I’m in the same boat and trying to understand it. My Flo app said I was due to ovulate on 23rd November (CD 18) and we had lots of sex around that time. Ovulation tests seemed normal, not dark but not light. Then I got a really dark one on 30th November (CD 26) so I took that to mean I ovulated late and we DTD again for a few days. Flo now says I’m due my period on CD 41?

Ughhh I feel the same it's so frustrating!!! Clearblue ovulation tests are a little easier to read as these have symbols:
Sold circle = low
Flashing smiley face = high fertility
Solid smiley = peak fertility (ovulation should happen with 12-48hrs)

I don't know what to do I'm going out of my mind!!! I didn't have any EWCM when the test said I ovulated and then got it later on in the week so BD'd once! But I'm not getting my hopes up as that was just a random one...

It's so disheartening, ttc is such an emotionally draining journey.
