Anyone else around same age and TTC? Not been using contraceptives for a year and no BFP yet. I know the likelihood of getting pregnant at my age is slim.

45 was my cut off for ttc. Slim chances of success, potential increased risks of developmental issues. Do you already have three other children?

TTCnumberfour · 01/12/2023 15:44

Yes I have 3 other children to my ex husband but my fiancé doesn’t have any biological children.

At 45 I would go for donor eggs if I were you. I knew someone who had a surprise baby at 44. Their DC is lovely and doesn't have an obvious genetic issue like Downs, but does have developmental issues probably due to the age of their parents. Now parents are looking into going in to their retirement with a teenager with additional needs. They are worried about who will look after them when they are gone etc. I know it could happen at any age, but at 45/46 your risk would be so much higher.

I'm 46, and still trying. I know my chances are incredibly slim, but it just might happen! I certainly won't do IVF or donor eggs... if it happens it would be amazing. If not, I'll move on.
I have 3 older children already. Had a mmc at 10wks last year.

Good luck @TTCnumberfour - hope you are one of the lucky ones!

Hi, I'm 43 and trying to conceive. I had a miscarriage last year in September at 6 weeks

Outliers · 02/12/2023 10:09

I'd rush to get a fertility MOT

Ellamaelucyolivia · 02/12/2023 20:41

At 45, there's something like a 2% chance of conception every month.

hi ladies i am 44 and trying! I feel as if we will win, it may take longer but we will get there!! Read of a lot of those mid 40's concieving!! Check AMH levels and FSH , I take Coq10 600 mg daily .

Strawberry2512 · 03/12/2023 10:52

@praying4babba, how long have you been taking the coq10 for

TT82 · 03/12/2023 11:16

@TTCnumberfour hi, I am 41 (soon 42) and ttc number 3 for 2 years.. We even decided to do ivf with genetic testing, first round all 4 were abnormal.. I had 4 esrly natural pregnancy losses during this time too, so egg quality is an issue, as all hormones etc super good. I am taking Q10 and looots of other supplements from It starts with an egg book for a year now..

It might happen, just you need to be ready for chemical or early pregnancy losses 😞

All the best!!

Also TTC number 2 at 38, baby 1 was born March 22 and BF until June 23 - going out of mind as periods have gone crazy since gave up bf! Two in a month and two really long cycles for me- guess may be peri now 😢

Outliers · 03/12/2023 12:22

Keep in mind that conceiving a healthy child at 45 would make one the 1%. Good to manage expectations to avoid unnecessary heartache.
