Heavy implantation bleeding, period, or something else?

Hi everyone

Last night, when I thought I was 10dpo but we haven't been charting so I could be wrong, my period started. It was VERY heavy because it's the first period since coil removal, and I soaked through a pad in 2 hours. However, after these 2 hours it basically stopped completely. Now, the next morning, I don't seem to be bleeding at all any more.

Is this a weird period, very heavy implantation bleeding, or something else? I've also been having rather bad symptoms that I thought could be pregnancy and then thought were perhaps more like PMDD post-coil. Whatever it is, my hormones seem to be all over the place.

Sounds like a textbook period.

Implantation bleeding is a little sensationalised unfortunately in the TTC world. If you imagine an embryo the size of a poppy seed burying into the uterine walls, it's not going to create a big bleed.

In fact most pregnancies don't lead to implantation bleeding.

@Outliers is correct in that it sounds like it might just be a strange period. However in relation to implantation bleeding it can also be medium to moderate flow. I had what I thought was a period in January (we were ntnp but not actively ttc) a week later I did an opk which was blazing so did a hcg test just to rule it out and it was a BFP. Unfortunately I had a MMC in March but it just shows that everyone is different as my implantation bleeding was moderate. I think in your case though OP you're just going to have to wait and see if it stays away or you get more bleeding over the coming days. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Thanks guys

I have started bleeding again, although quite lightly, so I'm going to assume it's a really weird period - have just never had one like this before! I have read some stories of people getting BFPs after heavy bleeding so I know it's possible.
