I AM TAKING CLOMID FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY! 50MG. WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO START? DOES IT MAKE YOU SLEEPY. I AM VERY EXCITED AND VERY HAPPY TO SEE THERE ARE MANY SUCCESS STORIES ON CLOMID!

Hi SaintMolly

When I was on clomid I took it just before going to bed. I was lucky and didn't have any particular side effects other than horrendous PMT. I haven't heard of it making you sleepy.

Good Luck

Hi new here but good to see the clomid threads.

I'm just starting my 3rd month on Clomid, 1st month gave me headaches and a bit sleepy. 2nd month took them at tea time which seemed to help and didn't see any side affects.

Slightly deflated after first two months but will soldier on with them....

Saintmolly hope first month went well.

Hi, I am on my 2nd cycle of clomid 100mg, I take them before I go to bed, so I sleep through any side effects, DH says it made me grumpier than normal and a little bit tearful, I suppose its the change in hormones. Good Luck

pootleflump · 09/04/2008 12:42

Hi Saintmolly, I'm on CD28 of my first cycle of 50mg clomid as well. I didn't notice too many side effects - very bloated at the start of the cycle, probably more grumpy, tired and quite bad OV pains.

I had my day 21 blood results and had gone from 8.4 last month to 77.5 this month so the 50mg seems to be working perfectly for me.

How long is everyone's cycle when on it? Just wondered as I usually only have 21-24 day cycle but I'm now on day 28 and wondering how much longer it'll go on.

littlemissdaisy · 09/04/2008 14:54

Hi Pootleflump, I went to 38days on my first cycle (50mg) have very dodgy cycle anyway, anything from 28-43 days

gem2mum · 09/04/2008 16:55

Hi Pootleflum

My cycle was 21-34 days and am now day 20 of first month of Clomid so am waiting to see what it does to my cycle. Had quite bad ov pains around day 15..

pootleflump · 09/04/2008 18:19

littlemissdaisy, did 50mg not work for you?

gem2mum, are you having your bloods tomorrow then?

Are you all having scans as well as bloods taken? I'm only having the bloods but would love the scans just to confirm that the OV pains do relate to when I OV iyswim.

gem2mum · 09/04/2008 18:30

Hi Pootleflump, yes I've got day 21 bloods tomorrow. I had one scan on day 12 which showed two small follicles but they said they may or may not turn into eggs. I didnt think to ask when that meant ov would happen? Have noticed others seem to know their follicle size and womb lining thickness but I didnt ask. Will next time though!

littlemissdaisy · 10/04/2008 11:24

Hi Pootleflump, No the 50mg didn't work for me, I am having scans but no bloods, seems to differ from person to person

pootleflump · 10/04/2008 22:14

lmd, I'd much rather have the scans than the bloods- though in a perfect world I'd like both.

g2m, do you have to wait for your blood results or do you get them straight away?

Hi Ladies, I have just joined and have been reading your stories and felt the need to share mine.

After trying for a baby for 1.5 years I went to the doctor who referred us to the local fertility clinic.

I was diagnosed with POCS after a scan and was put on Metformin. After 6 months on Metformin with no luck. I recently went back to the clinic feeling very down and wanting to try something new. They gave me three months worth of Clomid (which I take along with the metformin) and booked me in for a Laporoscapy for June this year. I have had two months of Clomid and am hoping that I fall pregnant this month or next.

I am neally 30 and slightly overweight (11 stone at 5 foot 3 inches) but am trying to lose weight.
We have been trying for a baby for 3 years now and I am finding it very emotional, especially when I am at the age when all my friends are having children, with no problems at all.

Has anyone else been on Metformin and clomid and had success?
Thanks for reading

Hi Everyone!

I am on my first cycle of Clomid, CD6, so last pill this pm (I took advice to take it when I get home from work so that only the boyf is affected if it turns me into a loony.

Not sure what to expect now re. cycle length. I usually have a 26 day cycle (and I suspect a short luteal phase), so it will no doubt be a drag to keep waiting much longer than I am used to!

I do take hope from the positive messages about Clomid successes on MN! especially after ttc for 2 years...

littlemissdaisy · 21/04/2008 11:13

Got my BFP on Saturday CD31 after second cycle of clomid

ChoChoSan · 21/04/2008 12:02

Congratulations!

I see that you were on 100mg...did they put you on that after just one month of 50mg, or does 'cycle' relate to the three month prescription?

littlemissdaisy · 21/04/2008 12:07

Hi Cho Cho, I was put on 100mg on second cycyle as 50mg did nothing

ChoChoSan · 21/04/2008 13:28

I have been given 50mg/month for 3 months, after which they will see me again.

No one has suggested doing follicle scans or anything like that, just blood tests on CD3 and CD21..do you think I should ask for more info?

littlemissdaisy · 22/04/2008 09:09

Hi, Well my wonderful news was not long lived, the spotting I had turned into full blown heavy bleeding overnight this is the third time this has happened to me, I am waiting for the fertility unit to ring me, there must be something that can be done, my problem obviously isn't getting preganant, its staying pregnant. I am now going to start my third round of clomid and go from there.

ChoChoSan · 22/04/2008 14:44

Hi LMD, I just read your sad news on the other thread...really sorry to hear about your m/c. It might be worth investigating what Dungungirl suggested re. progesterone.

Are you on Clomid to counter no ovs. or to lengthen your luteal phase? From what I have read on here it seems the effects of Clomid can increase over time, so good luck with your next round.

Also, I think you are right to want to learn more about staying pregnant, as at least you know conception is not the issue for you.
