IVF then natural conception for number 2?

Our first born was conceived via IVF due to unexplained infertility.

We have just started thinking about number two and have decided to try naturally first for a year or so from when our son is 15 months to give us plenty of time to use our frozen embryos if it doesn't work out afterwards.

Anyone conceive naturally after IVF, and if so, did it take a long time or within a year?

Congratulations on your baby boy.

My DD was IVF (3 rounds).

I then fell pregnant naturally when she was 18 months old. It was a big shock as I had never had a natural pregnancy before this. I think the IVF pregnancy must have made my body realise what it should be able to do 🤷‍♀️ Unfortunately I miscarried early on, I went in to have several more miscarriages (including a late miscarriage of twin girls) before falling pregnant with my ds. I had some support and medication from the early pregnancy team and he thankfully stayed put. He is now two and he is amazing.
I would love a 3rd but I don't think I could cope with the stress of it all again.
I wish you lots of luck for the future.

Yes, unexplained infertility here too and we tried for 4 years, then had IVF and had our first baby. Three years later (we did try naturally all this time again) we went for another IVF and it failed..
About 6 months later we started another IVF cycle. I had been injecting for about 4 days and felt 'strange'.. didn't like my coffee anymore. I took a test as a joke and found out I was pregnant! Ex-husband was sure I had been cheating as it seemed impossible after all this time trying, so he did a DNA test when the baby was born, but that's another story that leads to him now being ex-husband 😂

I had IVF on my first and have had other successful natural pregnancies since. As have a few friends of mine. Hope it works out for you.

It really depends on why you needed IVF the first time - I know sooo many couples who had IVF for their first and then unexpectedly fell pregnant naturally though

I know (not just heard of) two friends who tried for many years, had IVF then they obviously didn't use contraception as both believed it wouldn't happen naturally..
Well they both got pregnant within 6 months after giving birth...
Good luck..x

3 failed cycles of IVF, an adoption and then a very surprise natural conception

Not IVF but we had to do 3 rounds of letrozole for ovulation induction to conceive DD1. Currently 20w pregnant with DC2 which was a natural conception. No real difference in anything before each time (i had lost 10%+ of my body weight before conceiving DC2 but i was still a couple of kg heavier than when we conceived DD1). Was around 9months of TTC. I did wonder if going through pregnancy maybe reset everything a bit? Obviously no scientific theory behind that! 😅

My best friend was trying for about 8 years & had 4 rounds of OVF for her first child & then fell pregnant naturally a year after the first was born by complete mistake. (A beautiful mistake 😊) It was like the pregnancy had kickstarted her body again

Yes - unexplained infertility and we were both older. Second round of IVF (frozen embryo) was successful at 42 - natural pregnancy and second baby at 43.
