Hi,

Please can anyone advise on these ovulation test results? I’m yet to find a peak but it’s a very long surge! Usually it happens quite quick for me.

Has anyone experienced this before?

One thing that made a big difference with mine is the lighting the pic was taken in, make sure you aren’t creating a shadow over the test with your phone 👌🏼

Lou210220 · 14/11/2023 16:19

Even to my eyesight I’ve just not found a peak, none have been darker than control. I know what you mean about the lighting though! We’ve BD’d every other day so I’m sort of hoping I’ve missed the peak and it will come back down soon.

Your late CD19 looks like your peak to me ☺️ It doesn't need to be darker than the control to be a positive, just the strongest result.

Needs to be the same or darker to be a positive

etaketak1991 · 15/11/2023 06:23

@4LeafCloverBaby Yes, it doesn't need to be darker, which is what OP was worried about.

you said “just the strongest result” which isn’t correct. As dark or darker & app should mark it as high

Lou210220 · 15/11/2023 10:02

Would you say I found any positives looking at those?@etaketak1991

Despite what the instructions say you don't always need a full "darker than the control line" to be positive. some people don't have particularly high LH levels and that's fine. As long as you are seeing a large surge (mine is usually 0.08 and then surges to about 0.45 according to this app and I've been pregnant twice including with twins so i definitely ovulate).

the apps also terrible. mine was deff darker than the control once and the app was still saying 0.5. It's also given me a 1.5 when it's low cos somehow confused the two lines. Your eyes are way better

etaketak1991 · 15/11/2023 15:23

@Lou210220 I agree with @Bells3032, I would go with your strongest result here as your peak. It looks like premom maybe hasn't read your test line correctly (you can check this when it scans it in, it's just an algorithm after all!) I'll attach my example for ref. Coming up at 0.77 so if you're going by the app, not as strong as the control line. I confirmed ovulation with BBT, which is why it just needs to be the darkest result.

Hope that helps, it's a confusing system! Are the tests getting lighter now? ❤️

@etaketak1991 I think I may have peaked yesterday after more testing! Finally gone back down today. I’m just not used to having a surge go on for so long, if I don’t test like crazy I usually miss it - there was no missing this surge! I’m still not sure I’ve found a positive, as dark as control, but we’ll see. I conceived two cycles ago, but miscarried so I’m hoping this is the month to try again. 🤞🏼

@Lou210220 Sorry I missed your message! I'm glad you've found a higher peak, best of luck for this cycle 🤞

Mummy2823 · 20/11/2023 10:51

What CD do most people peak?
I'm testing for the first time and I'm on CD12 and it's still showing as low. The premom app says my ovulation days was yesterday but my flo app says it's going to be Wednesday.
Will the dark line just appear randomly or will the tests gradually get darker closer to the day?

4LeafCloverBaby · 20/11/2023 12:00

@Mummy2823 mine just all of a sudden are very dark on that one day but I have seen other peoples gradually get darker on here. It really expends how long your cycle is as to when you should ovulate, it’s “usually” 2 weeks before your period if you have a standard 14day luteal phase.

the most common day is 14 days before your period. but it really depends on how long your luteal phase is. I have a 26 day cycle and ovulate on day 17. I also have quite a short ovulation window. its low then goes up and 24 hours is down low again so v easy to miss. some people's are slower burn and moves up gradually

Mummy2823 · 20/11/2023 14:20

@Bells3032
My cycle has always been pretty much 28 days every month but since having my DD in March it's been different each month. Also I went on holiday end of September so took period delay tablets so that cycle ended up 52 days then next cycle 24 days. All over the place lately 😞

Bells3032 · 20/11/2023 14:23

@Mummy2823 my daughter's nearly 2 and my cycles have only started regulating in the last 4 months. But they've dropped from 28 days to 26 which we think caused a chemical last month so currently on cycle day 32 and only ovulated 5 days ago..i do have progesterone pessaries now to hopefully prevent another chemical as an 8 day luteal phase is just too short

anxiousannie63 · 02/12/2023 20:38

I don't know if this is helpful but this is what my surge and peak looks like (30ish day cycle).

I ended up with a BFP the start of December so I must have ovulated on those really low peaks lol
