I know it's been done but TTC after D&C advice please...

I've just had a D&C following a missed miscarriage. I've read loads of info about waiting for period to return before TTC again but is this really necessary? Could anyone share medical advice they've received on this subject please? Also any personal stories would be useful. Does anyone know if I would be at greater risk of miscarrying again if I got pregnant right away?

Hi Saz - sorry to hear about your mmc
I had a D&C in Sept last year after an mmc in Aug.
The medical advice I was given was that you are most fertile just after a mc, but if you do get pg straight away it makes it difficult for them to date, and therefore monitor the pregnancy.
Most say to wait at least 1 cycle before you try again for this reason.
I bled on and off for about 3 weeks after the D&C but at some point during that must have ovulated as I got pregnant again. Unfortunately did not work out for me - they think it was a chemical pregnancy and I mc again in Nov. They did say it was not necessarily due to the time I got pg, they just didn't know.
Am still ttc so we'll see.

i had a d and C , then got pregnant the next month, and now have a lovely 19 month ds.

I had a missed miscarriage and ttc after waiting for 1st period. I conceived in the 3rd month of trying. Statistically, you are not at any greater risk of having another mc, and I don't believe there is any link to not waiting for new cycle.

Saying that, you are likely to be extremely anxious about the next pregnancy and having fairly accurate dates reduces stress in situations such as early scans, detecting heartbeat, measurements, etc.

Also, give yourself time to grieve. I found that I only started to recover emotionally after I was physicaly recovered.
