Me and my husband want to start trying in January but I’ll only be two months into a new job, is there ever a “right time”?

Do you know what the maternity policy is?

When I started my new job I couldn't be more than 15 weeks pregnant by my 26th week of employment to qualify for their mat leave package. So I decided to wait until I had been there at least 12 weeks before we started to try x

I'd just check the maternity policy as the previous poster said and then start once you're safe to get maternity pay should you get pregnant! It might happen month one, it might take years, it's impossible to say really so as long as you're sure of what you want and ready emotionally then I say go for it.

They don’t pay and extra Mat leave so I’m not concerned from a May pay perspective just worry I’ll be frowned upon x

@HannahRose23 even for statutory there's a set time you have to be there for so worth checking! Mine is the basic statutory and it's the same as what the other poster wrote. I no longer care what companies think about me and my personal life after I got made redundant twice in 14 months 😂 people have families, they'll get over it.

I wouldn't worry what they think. I had been in my current job 6/7 months when I got pregnant. Just started mat leave and been there approx 15 months. Nobody seems bothered x

I'm trying now that I'm eligible for OMP. But sounds like this isn't an issue for you, so have at it
