Wonky cycle??

So I'm cd20 today. Have suddenly started bleeding this morning, brown on my liner and red and mucusy when I wipe. My period was due in a week. No positive lh by cd14 so I gave up testing. Dh has been away so we haven't had sex this cycle. I'm 38 could it be my age 😥 or the Metformin I'm on. Anyone had similar?

I haven't had any experience with Metformin, but I would still keep checking for ovulation! You never know, it might just be an off month. Sorry I can't give any better/more specific advice x
